Kick-Ass 2: Review

Not your average superhero movie. Kick-Ass 2 follows the costumed high school hero, Kick-Ass, as he joins a group of fellow citizens who have joined forces to fight crime.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson returns to the title role as Kick-Ass (or his day time persona, Dave Lizewski), now mentored by action girl Mindy Macready, going by the superhero name of Hit Girl (played by Chloe Grace Moretz).

Taylor-Johnson and Moretz deliver an engrossing, enjoyable performance as the lead characters, drawing the audience in to their world, leading to that moment when you realise you’re not watching a superhero movie, but a move about overcoming, a story about good triumphing over evil, and a story about applying yourself, and never giving up.

The action sequences are thrilling, with a touch of humour as a young teen girl gets the better of a gang of thugs.

Kick-Ass 2 is a fun, comedic and thrilling story, and the perfect choice for a night out.

Kick-Ass 2 opens in South African cinemas 6 September 2013
