R.I.P.D: Review

R.I.P.D takes and old formula, and switches it up, to the max. We begin with two cops, Nick (Ryan Reynolds) and Hayes (Kevin Bacon) who are skimming evidence secured on raids. Nick begins to experience the twinges of guilt, and is promptly killed by Hayes.

Normally, the problem would end there, but Nick is recruited into the R.I.P.D (Rest In Peace Department), sent back for a 100 year tour Earth to hunt down escaped evil souls, and as the various plots twist and intertwine, he finally has the opportunity to go after Hayes with new undead partner Roy (Jeff Bridges).

R.I.P.D mixes the genres, you get a feeling of the Old West from Roy, and modern action from Nick, leading to many extremely funny moments as the two learn to deal with each others differences, and their own personality problems.

R.I.P.D is an action, comedy, crime, fantasy, mixed in with modern life, a piece of the past, and a bunch of the supernatural. A movie that stirs in all the ingredients of fun and serves up an entertaining mix that anyone should enjoy.

R.I.P.D manifests on South African screens 4 October 2013
