The Mortal Instruments City Of Bones (DVD): Review

The Film

Clarissa Fray, played by Lily Collins, has her quiet life in Brooklyn turned upside-down when she starts seeing strange and impossible things. Noticing signs all over, drawing the same symbol, and then witnessing what she thinks is a murder.

When her mother disappears, Clarissa “Clary” learns she is descended from a line of warriors charged with protecting the world from demons.

The visuals in The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones are stunning, adding the visual to an engrossing story of might and magic, as a young girl comes of age, and moves from the every day world into one of wonder and mystery.

The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones is a fun movie, with just the right amount of supernatural and action, while not concentrating on the romance as the main theme as far too many of this genre tend towards these days.

The Disc

The DVD is encoded at a high bitrate, so there are no artefacts visible on screen, and it can be scaled via software up to HD. The soundtrack is Dolby Digital, and makes good use of the surrounds to create the soundstage for the on screen action. There are no bonus features on the disc, and it is available now to buy in South Africa.
