Pompeii (Blu-Ray): Review

The Film

Pompeii, a story of perseverance, of a slave turned gladiator. He falls in love way above his class, to a girl who is betrothed to a corrupt Roman senator. As paths cross, and their stories become more intricate, as lives and reputation are threatened, Mount VesuviusĀ erupts. Putting the city of Pompeii and all it inhibitants in grave danger.

The film chronicles the last days of the city of Pompeii, played out against the ageless tale of love.

As the disaster unfolds, you become aware of the magnificent visuals of the city, not realising how much of this is practical, and how much is special effects. A testament to work that was well-done.

Pompeii is a thrill ride, with action, romance and suspense.
