The National Arts Festival, producers of the Cape Town Fringe Festival, have announced a one-week extension on production proposals from artists wishing to take part this year. The second edition is once again being staged in the Mother City from 24 September– 4 October 2015.
“The original deadline of 4 May has been extended to close of business on Thursday 14 May,” explained Artistic Director Ismail Mahomed, giving artists a full week and an extra weekend to “sharpen their pencils, refine their ideas and put together powerful, creative proposals.”

“The extension came about by request from a number of artists who said they needed more time as a result of the recent spate of public holidays and short working weeks. In the interests of getting the best possible selection of productions to choose from we are happy to accede to the request,” Mahomed said.
A large number of proposals have already been received, according to organisers, predominantly from theatre and dance practitioners. “As we discussed at the recent engagement forum with artists in Cape Town, we are assembling a broad team of people to review the proposals and make some recommendations to us. It is going to be an exciting process to develop the 2015 programme,” he concluded.
The final programme for this year’s Fringe will be announced around the end of July.
