Disc And Bonus Features

This is a disc distributed by Disney, so expectations are high for quality, and bonus material. They do not disappoint. It is encoded at a high bitrate, meaning it looks great on a larger screen, with no visible artefacts. While one might wish for an Atmos soundtrack, the 7.1 mix still engulfs the viewer completely, drawing them in to the on-screen action.

Amongst the list of bonus material is a very insightful commentary by writer / director Joss Whedon. One that is sure the thrill film makers and aficionados alike.

Feturettes on the disc include a “making of” video, showing some of the incredibly detailed sets and locations used in the film.

The Infinite Six is a very insightful look at the various Infinity Stones, explaining their powers, where they fit into the Marvel universe, and where to look for them. This will certainly help those who are slightly overwhelmed by the vast amount of information presented in each film and tie-in.

Global Adventure takes a look at the many international locations used in the film, and film settings. Viewers in South Africa can think of this as their patriotic duty, as there is a portion of the film not only shot in Johannesburg, but set there too.

A few laughs are dished out in the Gag Reel, and it is a delight to see the joy the actors experienced while filming this epic, and the bonds that they have formed.

Deleted and Extended Scenes show those scenes, or parts of scenes that did not make the final cut of the film. There is an option to play a commentary by writer / director Joss Whedon, where he explains the reasoning behind removing those scenes, those he misses, and how the extensions of these scenes would have altered the story.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron Blu-Ray is a very high quality disc. The film is available now, for purchase, in South Africa.
