Ster-Kinekor Releases Remake Of The Magnificent Seven In Imax For A Dramatic Cinema Experience

mag7_imax_exclusiveart_intl_loGun-runners, outlaws, bounty hunters and everything else you would expect from a serious Western… it’s all there, plus a whole lot more, when the remake of the iconic The Magnificent Seven shoots its way onto the big screen from Friday, 23 September. But, making an even bigger impact is the release of the film on Ster-Kinekor’s IMAX screens across the country.

Hollywood ‘hotties’ Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt and Ethan Hawke lead an all-star cast in this action-packed movie, which releases globally on 23 September. Director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Equalizer) brings his modern vision to a classic story in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures’ and Columbia Pictures’ The Magnificent Seven. The screenplay is by Nic Pizzolatto and Richard Wenk, and the film’s producers are Roger Birnbaum and Todd Black.

With the Old West town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), the desperate townspeople, led by Emma Cullen (Haley Bennett), employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers and hired guns – Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington), Josh Farraday (Chris Pratt), Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke), Jack Horne (Vincent D’Onofrio), Billy Rocks (Byung-Hun Lee), Vasquez (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) and Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier).

As they prepare the town for the violent showdown that they know is coming, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for much more than just the money.

As one of the most highly anticipated films for release this year, The Magnificent Seven’s director delivers the visceral action that is perfect for the IMAX screen.

The IMAX® release of The Magnificent Seven will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are part of the gun-slingin’ action!

“After partnering on The Equalizer, we are excited to work again with the incredibly talented director Antoine Fuqua and the whole team at Sony, as well as our friends at MGM, on this exciting new film, The Magnificent Seven,” said Greg Foster, Senior Executive Vice President, IMAX Corp. and CEO of IMAX Entertainment. “We believe the film’s sweeping visual style and heart-pounding action is the ideal fit for the IMAX presentation and we can’t wait for fans worldwide to enjoy the ride in IMAX.”
