Ster-Kinekor Releases The Code Defying ‘Inferno’ In Imax

The much anticipated release of the film version of Dan Brown’s latest bestseller, with all its mystery, intrigue and action, hits the big screen on Friday, 09 December. Inferno releases in Ster-Kinekor cinemas nationally, including in its IMAX theatres, for those Dan Brown fans who want the maximum movie experience! In fact, the best way to follow and unlock the conspiracies and secrecy of Inferno is on the huge IMAX screen with its crystal clear images and powerful surround sound.

To enjoy the full effects of the adventure, its complex symbols and codes, and the twists and turns of the plot, book your tickets to watch Inferno in one of the seven Ster-Kinekor IMAX theatres, situated at Eastgate and Cradlestone Mall in Johannesburg, Mall of Africa in Midrand, The Grove Mall in Pretoria, Gateway in Durban, Baywest Mall in Port Elizabeth and CapeGate in Cape Town.

The film brings together once again the powerful partnership of Academy Award®-winning director, Ron Howard and Academy Award®-winning actor, Tom Hanks. Howard returns to direct the latest bestseller in Dan Brown’s (Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons) billion-dollar Robert Langdon series.

Inferno follows the famous symbologist (again played by Tom Hanks) on a trail of clues tied to the great Dante himself. When Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories. Together, they race across Europe – and against the clock – to foil a deadly global plot.

The IMAX release of Inferno is digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX 2D Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.

In celebration of the IMAX release of Inferno—the third instalment in the US$1.2 billion-grossing Dan Brown franchise—director Ron Howard said: “IMAX has truly redefined the experience of movie-going.” The re-release of his film, Apollo 13, was the beginning of an incredible legacy of releasing Hollywood films in IMAX, and one that has included several subsequent films from Howard and Hanks, including the former’s In the Heart of the Sea (2015), as well as this year’s Hanks-starring Sully, which was filmed almost entirely using IMAX cameras.

Inferno opens on Friday, 09 December and bookings are now open for all screenings of Inferno – in the IMAX Experience and in Ster-Kinekor’s luxurious Cine Prestige cinemas at select sites, as well as at Ster-Kinekor cinemas countrywide. Members of the cinema chain’s various loyalty programmes can enjoy all the benefits and discounts offered by the different programmes from SK Club, Discovery Vitality and Edgars Club, when booking tickets for this film.

Inferno carries a 13 classification, and the running time is 2 hrs 1 min.
