The 23rd Screen Actors Guild Awards, which were screened live yesterday, Monday, 30 January at 03:00 and via delayed broadcast at 21:40 on M-Net Movies Premiere channel 104, honour the film and television industry’s best. Showbiz’s most talented and most acclaimed performers turned out in their numbers, for what proved to be an evening of passion and surprise.
Some memorable highlights included Oscar-nominee Lily Tomlin’s acceptance speech, after she was honored with the SAG Life Achievement Award. In a true Hollywood-esque twist, this year’s acclaimed La La Land picked up just one coveted SAG, while top credits went to director Theodore Melfi’s Hidden Figures. Denzel Washington, who stars in the acclaimed drama Fences, also scooped up a statuette, having held a longstanding record as one of the most nominated actors for these awards.
Some critically acclaimed M-Net, M-Net Edge and M-Net Movies titles were recipients of the coveted statue (highlighted in yellow). If you missed both broadcasts yesterday note that you can catch the show again on Sunday, 5 February Movies All Stars channel 111 at 14:30.
