Dora’s Peace Official Selection For The Boston And Beijing International Film Festivals

The critically-acclaimed ‘Dora’s Peace’ has been selected for the Boston and Beijing International Film Festivals in April.

Directed by Konstandino Kalarytis from a screenplay by Andrew Herold, Dora’s Peace is a crime drama starring Khabonina Qubeka, Hlubi Mboya, Danny Keogh and Paballo Koza.

The film follows Dora, a Hillbrow prostitute who shields a gifted young boy from the violent clutches of organized crime after the death of his mother. In the process she discovers aspects of her own lost humanity.

Dora’s Peace was released in South Africa in 2016 and won over critics and audiences alike. The film has gone on to win Best South African Feature at last year’s Jozi Film Festival and garnered a SAFTA for Hlubi Mboya as Best Supporting Actress. Dora’s Peace was also nominated at the Rapid Lion Awards for Best South African Film, while Khabonina Qubeka, who put in a career-best performance as embattled sex worker Dora, earned a well-deserved Best Actress nomination.

Dora’s Peace is currently available on DVD.
