The movie musical event of the year… #BeOurGuest

It’s here at last… and you can enjoy all the beauty of Disney’s live action version of its animation classic, Beauty and the Beast, a week before its official national release on Thursday, 13 April.

Ster-Kinekor is giving movie-lovers and Disney fans alike the chance to witness the magic of Beauty and the Beast in the most immersive cinema experience, with exclusive pre-screenings in its seven giant IMAX theatres around the country. The film will be shown in the full-on IMAX® 3D Experience across all show times from 07 – 12 April, and for the first three shows in IMAX on 13 April, when the film releases at all Ster-Kinekor sites.

So, book your tickets now and prepare to be dazzled by this spectacular live-action remake of one of Disney’s most loved tales.

Disney’s Beauty and The Beast has been specially formatted in its entirety exclusively for IMAX® theatres. The expanded 1.9:1 aspect ratio presented in IMAX will fill more of the screen, presenting 26% more of the image than standard theatres, to thrill audiences with a truly enchanting movie experience.

The film has been digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX 3D Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customised theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are exploring the West Wing of Beast’s Castle with Belle.

Watching the entire film on the extra big screen, Beauty and the Beast director Bill Condon said the IMAX version made him look at it in a different light. “The expanded IMAX format makes things clearer, makes movements bigger… It made me feel like I was back on those massive sets that we built. They were so big, and you just get to see more of them – that was an unbelievable thrill,” he said. (nerdist.com/beauty-and-the-beast-director-bill-condon-imax)

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s 1991 animated classic that refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs.

The film follows the fantastical journey of Belle (Emma Watson), a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by the Beast (Dan Stevens) in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior to realise the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

Joining Watson and Stevens in this star-studded cast are, among others, Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, Emma Thompson, Stanley Tucci, Ewan McGregor, Josh Gad, Nathan Mack and Haydn Gwynne.

Enjoy the exclusive IMAX release of Beauty and the Beast – the IMAX® 3D Experience at Ster-Kinekor’s seven IMAX theatres across the country, situated at Eastgate in Johannesburg, Cradlestone Mall in Krugersdorp, Mall of Africa in Midrand, The Grove Mall in Pretoria, Gateway in Durban, Baywest Mall in Port Elizabeth and CapeGate in Cape Town.
