Terror Arms Cache

A large cache of assault weapons including bombs, hand grenades, a suicide vest and automatic rifles were found in a building in Randburg. Experts believe it’s an unusual choice of weapons for Johannesburg’s criminal underworld, so could these arms be intended for terror attacks on our shores? SA’s sovereign credit rating downgraded to junk status

Just days after President Jacob Zuma reshuffled his cabinet and fired Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and his Deputy Mcebisi Jonas, international ratings agency Standard and Poor’s downgraded South Africa’s long-term currency sovereign credit rating to junk status. As experts count the cost of higher interest rates on bonds and vehicle repayments for ordinary South Africans, Carte Blanche examines the consequences of being relegated to junk status.
