New Look And Upgrades On The Cards For Ster-Kinekor’s East Rand Mall Cinema Complex

A makeover is on the cards for Ster-Kinekor’s cinema complex at East Rand Mall in Boksburg, in line with the company’s vision to ensure that every cinema experience for its customers is a ‘great moment’.

“We constantly assess the state of our complexes across the country and our cinemas at East Rand Mall are in need of some refurbishment,” states Wanda Matandela, CEO of Ster-Kinekor Theatres. “As such, we will close the complex for the months of May and June to complete the upgrades without compromising our customers’ experience.”

The facelift will affect the main cinema foyer, which will undergo a complete redevelopment and modernisation, and all nine cinemas. The bathrooms will also be refitted, and all the air conditioning units throughout the complex will be replaced with upgraded units. This will entail major construction, and the cinemas will be closed from 03 May till 30 June 2017.

“Only once the entire complex has been upgraded will we reopen the site to the public. During the construction period, we will revamp the foyer area and the bathrooms, and install new air con units. At the same time, all the carpeting in the nine cinemas will be replaced, as they are refitted with the latest in cinema seating to ensure maximum comfort while enjoying the latest blockbusters on our big screens.”

During the renovation period, Ster-Kinekor has urged its loyal East Rand Mall customer base to continue enjoying ‘great moments at their greatest’ by visiting one of its other cinema complexes in the area. These include Eastgate with its IMAX theatre and two luxurious Cine Prestige cinemas, Festival Mall, Carnival City and Mall@Carnival.

“We do apologise to our customers for the inconvenience during the construction phase. However, we are confident that they will be delighted with the end result, which will effectively be a brand new cinema complex within a few months. We hope they will be blown away by the improvements that will go a long way to contributing to a magical time at the movies,” comments Matandela.
