With the economy already on shaky ground, compounded by a downgrade to junk status, food prices are rapidly rising and more consumers are set to feel the pinch. Carte Blanche asks: are these price increases justified and how will South Africans feed their families in the near future?

Transgender children face major barriers when trying to navigate the school system, such as accessing bathrooms, wearing gender-specific school uniforms and being accepted onto school teams. These teens find it harder to adjust to an educational structure which isn’t designed to accept their gender identities. Carte Blanche asks whether schools are fully prepared to receive transgender children.

While mining companies slug it out in court over mineral rights, illegal miners are scraping the mountainside bare in Limpopo making off with millions of rands worth of chrome every day. Carte Blanche meets the researchers who’ve developed a remarkable robotic arm that’s not only controlled by the mind, but also allows the operator to actually feel what they are touching.
