Support SA Theatre By Sponsoring The Naledi’s

The Naledi Theatre Awards are undoubtedly a highlight on the South African theatre calendar. But, without adequate funding, this year’s Awards will not exude the glitz and glam Naledi fans have come to expect.

The country’s current economic crunch affects us all, but, as those within the arts well know, culture budgets are often the first to feel the pinch. With this in mind, the 13th annual Naledi Theatre Awards is imploring corporate and private funders to stop this trend in its tracks.

Sponsorship of the Naledi Theatre Awards does not only ensure the stars of our local stages are honoured for their dedication and talent, it also offers incredible branding and marketing opportunities.

“The Awards represent the entire South African theatre industry, and, through the event programme, TV broadcast and media coverage, a myriad of opportunities are available to funders,” says Dawn Lindberg, the Executive Director of the Awards. “Association with the Naledi’s pins sponsors to local talent; both on and off the stage.”

This year, the Naledi Theatre Awards are offering a host of sponsorship opportunities; from category sponsorship, and workshop and training sponsorship to advertising and branding opportunities. In 2016, the Naledi’s garnered over R35 million worth of organic media coverage, thus catapulting the names of their sponsors into the top TV, radio, print and social media spaces. And this year, they hope to top that!

A partnership with Kyknet and M-Net will see a TV broadcast of the show, which will include a number of sponsor mentions, especially if the sponsor opts to support a particular Award. Major sponsors will also be afforded the honour of presenting Awards on stage, while all sponsors will be offered VIP tickets to the event. The Naledi’s are keenly anticipating to partner with a headline sponsor, who would be entitled to naming rights and a number of other substantial benefits.

Over the past 13 years, The Naledi Theatre Awards has honoured over 60 Lifetime Achievers, veteran artistes, technicians, and administrators who have dedicated their lives to SA Theatre, while also paying tribute to people in the arts who have taken their final bows during the year under review. By associating with such a high-profile event, sponsors of the Naledi’s will help this legacy live on, while promoting their own brand in the process.

This year, the Naledi Theatre Awards will be held on 5 June at Gold Reef City’s Lyric Theatre.
