The Voice SA Teaser: Who Has South Africa Voted For?

Who has South Africa voted for in The Voice SA?
See how the Top 8 becomes the Top 7 in this week’s live showstopper

Now that The Voice SA coaches have no more power to save and keep talent from their teams in the competition, we will find out which of the incredible singers have captured the imagination of the voting public. This week Sunday, host Lungile Radu will reveal who will stay in the show as The Voice SA’s Top 7 and which individual unfortunately won’t be able to continue his or her quest of becoming the winner of The Voice SA Season 2.

Will it be one of the singers who was endorsed in the past by a save from their coaches, like Fatman, Samantha Leonard, Josh Ansley or Tender Mavundla? Or will previous audience favourites Craig Lucas, PJ Pretorius, Caroline Brussow and Luke Lovemore perhaps not make the grade now that everyone in the Top 8 was up for the vote?

While the talent wait to hear their fate, last season’s runner-up Gavin Edwards will set the stage alight. Then, another familiar face from The Voice SA will also show off her amazing skills. Be prepared for a unique performance by Season 2 co-coach Riana Nel.

“From this point of the competition onwards, we will only say goodbye to one talent each week,” says M-Net’s Head of Publicity, Lani Lombard. “But there are also some other tweaks to the show that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final on 9 July. Be sure to watch The Voice SA live shows each week to keep your favourite in the competition.”

Before the results are revealed on Sunday, all eight of the talent will have the opportunity to sing another chart-topper and this week the song choices represent an eclectic mix from different decades:

  • In #TeamKaren, Kimberly’s Samantha Leonard (24) will take on the massive Queen hit “I Want It All”, while PJ Pretorius from Secunda (26) will be keeping things contemporary with his rendition of Ed Sheeran’s “Photograph”.
  • Comedic Fatman has elected to keep his choice local, lekker and very close to home with coach Karen Zoid’s ballad “As Musiek Begin Speel”, and his fellow #TeamKahn talent Craig Lucas (23) from Cape Town will be tackling Harry Styles’ latest single “Sign of the Times”.
  • For #TeamLira, Port Shepstone’s Tender Mavundla (35) has opted to belt out Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” and Luke Lovemore (23) is keeping things alternative with the Rag n Bone Man chart-topper “Human”.
  • Pop star Bobby van Jaarsveld’s Caroline Brussow (32) from Bloemfontein will be channeling Adele with her cover of “Rolling In The Deep” and musical theatre veteran Josh Ansley (31) will be serenading fans with the Michael Bolton love song “When a Man Loves a Woman”.

With one person leaving the competition on Sunday, voting for the Top 7 talent will open at the end of the show and will close on Tuesday, 13 June at 22:00. Tickets for The Voice SA live shows are available from Computicket.

The Voice South Africa, sponsored by Dialdirect, is broadcast every Sunday night on M-Net channel 101 at 17:30 and every Monday night at 18:00 on M-Net City channel 115.
