Optimus Prime Transforms Into 4DX

Transformers: The Last Knight, the fifth film in the blockbusting series of action machine-spectacles, starts showing in Nu Metro’s cineplexes – including 4DX, 3D, 2D, Xtreme and VIP cinemas – nationwide from this Wednesday, 21 June 2017.

Nu Metro Cinemas will start showing Transformers: The Last Knight “day and date” with the rest of the world.  The film’s earlier release date this Wednesday coincides with cinemas worldwide – cinemagoers globally will witness the return of the Optimus Prime-movie power on the same day everywhere, including South Africa.

Transformers: The Last Knight has also been confirmed for Nu Metro’s 4DX cinemas, which will push the boundaries of cinematic experience to its absolute pinnacle. These ground-breaking multi-sensory theatres – exclusive to five Nu Metro cineplexes in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria – include environmental effects synchronised with Dolby 7.1 sound and crystal-clear RealD 3D projection.

Imagine flying through the air, fighting a fierce battle, followed by a rapid descent to earth, which is then followed by even fiercer racing on the ground. 4DX deploys specialised seat movements, wind, water, fog/smoke, lightning, scents and other unique ambient effects to make cinemagoers experience such movie action for real in the comfort of their cinema seat, in sync with the on-screen visuals – delivering a truly immersive experience like no other cinema can.

Transformers: The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).

There comes a moment in all of our lives when we are called upon to make a difference. In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes; and, heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.

Movies are now no longer bound by their visual and aural limits. 4DX is the next step in the movie-going evolution, taking audiences on a journey into the full feature film. Experience Transformers: The Last Knight in 4DX at Nu Metro V&A Waterfront (Cape Town), The Pavilion (Durban), Menlyn Park (Pretoria), Hyde Park Corner (Johannesburg) and Emperors Palace (Johannesburg).

Nu Metro’s Xtreme cinemas will envelop moviegoers with big sound and larger-than-life cinema screens to view this new Transformers-movie in the best audio-visual quality possible.

Xtreme is Nu Metro’s Premium Large Format Screen-brand. These technologically advanced cinemas will project Transformers: The Last Knight with spectacular effect on the largest, brightest screens in the country – including superior 360o sound (through Dolby Atmos™ and Barco Auro™ sound systems) along with crisp RealD digital projection.

Sound in Xtreme cinemas includes overhead speakers and a large array of speakers placed strategically throughout the cinema—a vast improvement on the limitations of traditional cinema surround, moving past the confines of “stereo” or “surround sound channels.”

Experience TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT in Xtreme at Nu Metro Canal Walk (largest screen in the Western Cape), Clearwater Mall (Johannesburg), Menlyn Park (Pretoria), The Glen (Johannesburg) and the recently-opened Ballito Junction (largest screen in KwaZulu-Natal).
