Transformer’s: The Last Knight is the fifth and last instalment in the franchise, and producer and director Michael Bay plans to go out with a bang… all in true IMAX style.
Bay says of the film, “A movie like Transformers needs to be seen using the finest tools, the best sound technology, the best sound projection technology and cameras.”
The sci-fi, action movie launches in South Africa on 21 June and will show at IMAX theatres, select Cine Prestige cinemas and Ster-Kinekor sites nationwide. This is the first movie to be shot in IMAX 3D, using two IMAX cameras on top of each other to experience 3D better than ever before.
The film is a direct sequel to Transformers: Age of Extinction which was released in 2014.
Transformer’s: The Last Knight sees Optimus Prime finds his dead home planet, Cybertron, where he discovers that he was responsible for its destruction.
Seeking redemption, he finds a way to bring Cybertron back to life, but in order to do so, Optimus needs to find an artefact hidden on Earth, and so begins the war between humans and Transformers. A precious artefact was hidden 1000 years before and the fate of Earth lies in the hands of an English Lord, Sir Edmund Burton played by Oscar-winner; Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee, a young Autobot and Oxford Professor Viviane Wembly (Laura Haddock).
