Explore The Life Of Tupac Shakur At Ster-Kinekor Cinemas This June

For many rap and hip hop fans, the release of the highly-anticipated biopic drama of Tupac Shakur, All Eyez On Me, is reason to celebrate.

The movie chronicles the life and legacy of the prolific rapper, actor, poet and activist, Tupac, including his rise to notoriety, superstar status, his imprisonment and controversial time at Death Row Records.

Be the first to see the movie – a pre-screening will be held on 28 June at 20:00 for die-hard Tupac fan at the Ster-Kinekor cinemas nationwide.  The movie officially launches in South Africa on 30 June at selected Ster-Kinekor sites.

Tupac, was shot in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegs 0n 7 September 1996. He died from his injuries six days later in hospital at the age of 25 and his killers were never caught.

Producer LT Hutton said the movie shows all sides of Shakur, not just what the cameras wanted you to see.

“We needed to know how Tupac became Tupac, who Tupac was, who he wanted to be and who he had to be to survive the world he was introduced to.”

All Eyez On Me will be screened at Ster-Kinekor cinemas in Gauteng: Sandton, The Zone in Rosebank, Cresta, Maponya Mall, Eastgate, Southgate, Sterland, Brooklyn Mall in Pretoria, Mall of Africa in Midrand, North West: Waterfall Mall in Rustenburg, Kwa-Zulu Natal: Musgrave, Gateway in Durban and Western Cape: N1 City and Parow in Cape Town.

The action-packed scenes and the sight of emotional pain, can only fully be appreciated on the silver screen. Titled after Tupac’s 1996 fourth studio album of the same name, All Eyez On Me, the movie stars Demetrius Shipp Jr. as Tupac. The actor has an uncanny resemblance to the late rapper; you couldn’t tell the difference between the two.

The movie also stars Kat Graham (Actress Jada Pinkett, a friend of Tupac from the Baltimore School for the Arts), Jamal Woolard (The Notorious B.I.G), Danai Gurira (Shakur’s mother, Afeni Shakur) and Jarrett Ellis (rapper, Snoop Dogg).

Brace yourself for an emotional, rollercoaster, where you feel the struggle in Tupac’s lyrics, hear the voice behind the music, see the man behind the headlines and understand the man behind the legend.

Shakur’s raw talent, powerful lyrics and revolutionary mind-set propelled him into becoming a cultural icon, whose legacy lives on.
