Written and directed by Etienne Fourie (Die Windpomp, Dis Koue Kos, Skat),the film is produced by Stefan Enslin (Strikdas, Nul Is Nie Niks Nie) of Faith in Motion Productions and stars Mila Guy, Morné Visser, Milan Murray, Dean-John Smith, Terence Bridgett, June van Merch, Melt Sieberhagen and introduces Eloff Snyman as Hugo.

Shot in the sleepy Karoo hamlet of Prince Albert and reminiscent of Little Miss Sunshine and Hunt for the Wilder People, Liewe Kersfeesvader takes a hilarious peek into the life of young, feisty, reluctant beauty queen Nonnie (Mila Guy).  When her mother (Milan Murray) abandons the family for a life in the circus, and her father (Morné Visser) assumes a new identity: Father Christmas, Nonnie is suddenly flung into adulthood.  Juggling an unhinged father, an impressionable kid brother (Eloff Snyman) and a growing romance with her confidant Wouter (Dean-John Smith), Nonnie is forced to redefine her own definition of family.

“Liewe Kersfeesvader” is an incredibly personal story to me”, explains Etienne Fourie. “It deals with themes of family, the always-rocky transition from childhood to adulthood and, above all, love. It allows a glimpse into the lives of a typical, seemingly inconsequential family, that undergoes extraordinary challenges. Liewe Kersfeesvader is a story about choosing to love and accept your family, not despite but rather for their imperfections”.

Liewe Kersfeesvader is distributed by Times Media Films and opens at cinemas nationally on 17 November 2017.
