Lego Ninjago Movie : Review

Shunned by everyone for being the son of an evil warlord, Garmadon (Justin Theroux), a teenager, Lloyd (Dave Franco – Now You See Me 2, 22 Jump Street) seeks to defeat him with the help of his fellow ninjas, Kai (Michael Peña – ChiPs, The Martian), Jay (Kumail Nanjiani – Fist Fight, Hot Tub Time Machine 2), Zane (Zach Woods – Ghostbusters), Cole (Fred Armisen – Zoolander 2, Smurfs 2) and Nya (Abbi Jacobson). Lead by the wise Master Wu (Jackie Chan).

Following on from the many successful Lego movies, The Lego Ninjago Movie brings more of those brick worlds, and characters. The Ninjago Movie does not disappoint, merging the world of Lego with a story of discovery, adventure, and ninjas.

The film is full of safe, family fun and is most certain to appeal to audiences, both young and old. Masterfully animated, with a talented voice cast, who bring the ensemble of colourful characters to life, The Lego Ninjago Movie is just the right mix to keep viewers enthralled. The story itself is one often told, adapted through the ages, or as the many varied films require. The plot is not too complicated to follow, and thus not bound to lose the younger audiences, or have them get restless. Yet, there is still a story to be told.

A fun film, for the whole family, bringing back childhood memories, or creating new ones. If you’ve enjoyed any Lego series or movie before, then this is certainly one to see.

The Lego Ninjago movie opens 29 September 2017, in South African cinemas.
