13… an unlucky number for some…
But not for the South African HorrorFest!

S.A.’s ultimate 10-day Halloween event is celebrating its 13th annual edition across 25 October – 3 November, bringing  you movies and short films from around the world which you’re unlikely to see on any other local big (or small) screen. With vampires, demons, serial killers, aliens, cannibals, mad men (and women), the scares just keep on coming! Most will make their African / South African premiere.

As from the very start of the festival’s first event in 2005, the screening venue is the Labia Theatre (68 Orange Street, Gardens, Cape Town)

The festival opens on Wednesday 25 October with Academy Award nominated director Darrell James Roodt’s new local Horror movie Siembamba (he’ll be attending this Cape Town premiere for an audience Q&A).

For those who like their chills and thrills on the written page, the Bloody Parchment literary night is happening on Thursday 26 October, with local authors reading from their work, book give-aways and more.

Rocky Horror Picture Show veterans and newbies alike can come do the timewarp again with an audience participation screening! The LoveCraft Experiment will have participation packs on sale for those who don’t know what to bring or don’t have time to get all the bits together (Friday 27 October)

Saturday 28 October there is The Makabra Ensemble‘s customary live soundtrack performance (this year for the legendary 1927 Fritz Lang sci-fi classic Metropolis, celebrating its 90th anniversary).  This night is also the Halloween dress-up competition with great prizes attached.

Across the 10-day festival we’ve again scattered 3 feature length chapters of the Shadow Realm short film collection, bringing you amazing shorts from around the world, from the USA, UK and France, to Brazil, the Czech Republic, Spain and South Africa, these are not to be missed.

Thousands of Rands in audience prizes and give-aways include:
