If you fancy yourself a wine connoisseur, enjoy an exquisite glass of wine or are interested in all things vino, then the French film Back to Burgundy is a definite must-see. The film releases on 20 July 2018, and will show exclusively at selected Ster-Kinekor sites.
Back to Burgundy is directed by the renowned, Cédric Klapisch.
Back to Burgundy explores the rich wine culture of France’s Burgundy. You can’t experience the trials and tribulations of a new generation of wine-makers, anywhere else but on Ster-Kinekor screens. The film will certainly make your heart skip a beat as you immerse yourself in a tale of vineyards, grape-stomping and love.
The film stars Jean (Pio Marmaï), who, for a decade, left his family and his birthplace of Burgundy to travel the world.
After learning about his father’s imminent death, he returns home and reunites with his strong-willed sister Juliette (Ana Girardot), and his brother Jérémie (François Civil), who recently married into one of the region’s more prestigious wine families.
Sadly, their father passes away before the harvest begins. As the four seasons pass, the three siblings bond, at the same pace as their wine matures.
When asked what wine represents to him, Klapisch, said, “Wine is my father. I know wine through my father – who drinks practically nothing other than Burgundy. When I began drinking (around 17-18-year-old) he let me taste his wines… It’s thanks to him that I learnt about wine.”
It is a heart-felt story, with both funny and intense moments.
Run Time: 113 minutes.
Age Restriction: 13 DLS
