The Parlotones celebrate 20 years with a brand new album
The creative process commenced with Kahn Morbee spending time in the UK with the likes of Grammy-nominated Sacha Skarbek (who wrote James Blunt’s hit single ‘You’re Beautiful’ and has worked with artists such as Adele, Lana Del Rey and Jason Mraz) and others, through which the foundation of the album was born. The album offers 25 tracks that opens up to a whole new audience with their ever-evolving sound, yet still maintains their signature sound.
Celebrating their 20th Anniversary as a band, The Parlotones undertake a string of headline concerts in their native South Africa before undertaking a 25 date international tour through Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, England, Scotland and concluding the tour in Dubai. They may have been together for a lifetime, but their journey really has only just begun.
Perez have returned!
Formed in January 2001, Perez had one common goal – to write and perform great rock and roll songs. After locking themselves away in their rehearsal room, they emerged with roughly two albums worth of material and stepped up to play their very first gig at Splashy Fen to a spellbound audience. A week later they were signed to Sovereign Entertainment.
The first three singles off their debut album “Picture Perfect” all went to number 1 on the SA Rock Charts, earning them their first SAMA Music Award nomination for Best Rock Album in 2002. The band toured for two relentless years, playing every nook, cranny, dive bar, makeshift stage, venue and TV show that would have them. In those crazy two years, Perez went on to headline most of SA’s music festivals, and then…
They went deep underground and only emerged again in 2008 to release their self-titled, sophomore album, “Perez.” Again, after touring this album and another SAMA nomination, they vanished – this time seemingly off the face of the earth.
It’s 2018, and Perez have returned – and the fire, the passion and the brotherhood is clearly tighter, stronger and more beautiful than ever before. Currently working on their third album, these South African darlings are finally touring again!
