From an increase in the murder rate to brazen cash-in-transit robberies – newly released crime statistics paint a grim picture. The latest data even suggests that in some communities, the murder rate rivals that of war torn countries. However, some experts say, these statistics could provide more information to help improve the way the South African Police Service and intelligence units tackle crime.

Construction is vital for South Africa’s economy, but with the theft of scaffolding from building sites, the industry loses around R460-million a year – losses passed on to consumers through increased building costs. a lucrative black market in stolen scaffolding.

Is it possible for humans to live forever in a digital form of consciousness?  That’s the question that scientists in the USA have been grappling with and now after years of research, they may finally have unlocked the answer.  By using cutting edge technology, the brain of a worm was catalogued, and uploaded into a computer, and used to programme a small worm robot into mimicking the exact the movements of a real worm.  Scientists now believe that they’re not too far off from preserving the human brain in a digital format.  Carte Blanche explores this revolutionary research.
