Fresh New Season Of National Theatre Live From Cinema Nouveau

National Theatre Live continues to bring the best of British theatre to international screens throughout 2019 and you can experience some of the world’s best talent at your local Cinema Nouveau, with three new productions featuring all-star casts.

Catch All About Eve starring Gillian Anderson (X-Files, NT Live: A Streetcar Named Desire) and Lily James (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again), filmed live in London’s West End. All About Eve tells the story of Margo Channing – a legend, a true star of the theatre. But now there’s Eve, her biggest fan. Young, beautiful Eve – the golden girl, the girl next door. Lifting the curtain on a world of jealousy and ambition, this new production from one of the world’s most innovative theatre directors, Ivo van Hove (NT Live: A View from the Bridge), interrogates our fascination with celebrity, youth and identity.

All About Eve is adapted by van Hove from the 1950 Twentieth Century Fox film by Joseph L Mankiewicz and the play The Wisdom of Eve by Mary Orr and features music from double Mercury Prize winner PJ Harvey. Watch the trailer HERE

Next from NT Live is Arthur Miller’s All My Sons, showing at cinemas from 15 June. Directed by Jeremy Herrin and filmed live at The Old Vic in London, All My Sons stars Academy Award-winner Sally Field (Steel Magnolias, Brothers & Sisters) and Bill Pullman (The Sinner, Independence Day). Set in America in 1947, Miller’s play follows Joe and Kate Keller, who despite some hard knocks have built a home, raised two sons and established a thriving business. But nothing lasts forever and their contented lives, already shadowed by the loss of their eldest boy to war, are about to shatter. With the return of a figure from the past, long buried truths are forced to the surface and the price of their American dream is laid bare.

Screening from 27 July, Andrea Levy’s Orange Prize-winning novel Small Island comes to life in an epic new theatre adaptation. Small Island embarks on a journey from Jamaica to Britain, through the Second World War to 1948 – the year the ship Empire Windrush docked at Tilbury, England. The play follows three intricately connected stories: Hortense yearns for a new life away from rural Jamaica, Gilbert dreams of becoming a lawyer, and Queenie longs to escape her Lincolnshire roots. Hope and humanity meet stubborn reality as the play traces the tangled history of Jamaica and the UK. A company of 40 actors take to the stage of the National Theatre in London in this timely and moving story.
