DStv Ensures Everyone Has Access To Pan African News

As Africa evolves into a leading continent for growth and sustainability, it’s more important than ever that people have access to news they can trust. This is why DStv is committed to ensuring that all South Africans can view a variety of news channels that provide accurate, timeous reports on what’s happening in the continent and the world around them.

Two of the major steps that have been taken over the past few weeks include the introduction of Africanews on DStv, and the opening of a wide selection of news channels to all South Africans to both subscribers and non-subscribers, to stay up to date with COVID-19 news through the DStv Now streaming platform.

Africanews (part of the Euronews group) which follows on from the introduction of Euronews to DStv in November last year, is focused on providing unbiased global news with an African perspective. Michael Peters, Euronews CEO explains: “Amid the current COVID-19 crisis, Euronews and Africanews’ mission has never been so important: helping people access real-time up-to-date information, empowering them to understand what’s going on in the world by presenting a diversity of viewpoints.”

Africanews is multilingual (broadcasts in French and English) and has a wide network of on-the-ground reporters who cover everything from social and business stories to politics and culture, from a truly African perspective. Its focus is on showcasing the voices that are shaping the future of the continent.

DStv Now has opened up the following news channels to all South Africans: BBC World News; CNN; Sky News; eNCA; SABC News; Newzroom Afrika and Euronews, accessing them is simple – all anyone needs to do is download the DStv Now App. DStv Now can be accessed from your smartphone, tablet, Smart TV or laptop.

Yolisa Phahle, CEO General Entertainment at MultiChoice Group, reinforced the message that MultiChoice Group is firmly committed to providing the best service possible. “In these unprecedented times, the importance of having access to precise, reliable information becomes paramount for our customers and their families”.
