One Voice Says Goodbye For Now

Popular female group, ONE VOICE, impressed audiences from the get-go and has managed to establish a solid fan base for themselves over the past two years.

Kalinka Kilian, Carla Strauss, Karma Coetzer and Janke Bester have been spoiling fans with their impressive renditions of existing hits, such as Sucker and Secret Love Song, as well as original singles, like Droomplaneet and Wake Up that was written by Lientjie Sothman, which have performed well locally and abroad and can still be heard on the radio.

Their music was not only play listed on several radio stations across the country, but also featured as number one hits on Lekker FM and Hosa Radio and charted on stations like SFM, IFM and Bosveld Stereo for several weeks.

Furthermore, their songs were also streamed in 49 countries; including South Africa, USA, Australia, Mongolia, Namibia, Japan, Mexico, Denmark, Philippines, Germany, Sweden, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Brazil, Ecuador, Switzerland, Portugal, India, Malaysia, Canada, South Korea and Ireland. Most of the downloads were made locally and in the USA.

The group were also featured in various printed and online publications; including the international platform, Broadway.com.

ONE VOICE’s energetic performances, unique sound and beautiful covers immediately appealed to audiences of all ages and quickly led to performances at various functions and venues across the country.

But as the saying goes, every good thing comes to an end at some point. Because ONE VOICE was originally only planned as a two-year project and was severely impacted by Covid-19 restrictions, the girls decided that the time has come to say goodbye to this successful chapter of their lives.

“ONE VOICE was a short-term project that performed much better than was expected. As four full-time students, it started to get difficult to prioritize and we each had to reconsider what our goals are,” the girls explain. “Because of lockdown, our scheduled events and concerts were cancelled. It set us back so far that it was difficult for us to see a practical way to continue with the group at this point in time.”

“Our music will remain on all digital platforms and can be revisited whenever we are missed. Also watch this space for more about our solo careers, because this is definitely not the end.”

If you ask them about their future plans, they all agree that their main focus is to complete their studies. “I am going to take things step-by-step and want to focus on my own music career while completing my studies. I will continue to write and release songs as my skills improve,” says Carla, while Kalinka confirms that she is also not finished with music just yet: “I would like to complete my studies and am also going to enrol for a few other courses. I will continue to write and sing and have already released a new song, for which I am planning a music video.”

Both Karma and Janke would like to use their gifts and qualifications, as an occupational therapist and designer, to make a difference in people’s lives and also plan on keeping their music dreams alive. “After completing my studies, I would like to use my talent to have an impact on other people’s lives,” says Karma. “My plan is to constantly improve myself in both my singing and professional design career. My life goal is to make a difference and that is something I will strive for every day,” adds Janke.

Saying goodbye is never easy, but ONE VOICE is very grateful for the amazing team of professionals who helped them to make their dreams come true behind-the-scenes and for every fan who supported them on this incredible journey.

“We just want to thank our parents, friends, Starburst Promotions, McCrea Media, Michelle from Naturallymibeauty, Lientjie Sothman, Ettienne D Lane and everyone who was involved for their efforts and support. We would not have been able to this without you,” the four shares. “Without the support of fans and listeners, we would never have been able to make our performance dreams a reality and we want to thank you for the incredible memories that we were able to make over the past two years.”
