Turn On The Action With Leathal Weapon And BLindspot – M-Net Channel 101

The most talked about movie to TV adaptation, Lethal Weapon, is coming to M-Net channel 101 on DStv “Express from the US” from Thursday 22 September at 19:30. Based on the hit movie franchise of the same name, Lethal Weapon tells the story of classic cop duo Martin Riggs (played by Clayne Crawford, Rectify) and Roger Murtaugh (played by Damon Wayans, My Wife and Kids) as they work the beat on the streets of a crime-ridden Los Angeles.

lethalweapontvGrief-stricken after the loss of his young wife and unborn child, ex-Navy SEAL-turned-detective Riggs moves to California to “start over” at the LAPD. He’s paired up with Murtaugh, a cop who’s only just recovered from a near-fatal heart attack. Riggs’ penchant for diving headfirst into the line of fire immediately clashes with Murtaugh’s by-the-book technique, so one thing is clear from the moment they meet- this partnership is doomed. But during their first case together, Riggs drags Murtaugh on a chaotic car chase and into a shootout with drug dealers, which, despite his protests, leaves the older cop feeling more alive than he has in years.

It’s not long before Riggs himself finds something worth living for: a partner- and a friend- in Murtaugh. They’re about to become the LAPD’s best law enforcers-if Riggs doesn’t get them killed first. There’s also plenty of high-octane action, close-shave accidents and of course, quick-witted chemistry between these two talented leads.

blindspottvThe enigmatic thriller Blindspot kicks off its second season, next week Friday 16 September at 02:00 (Express from the US) and on Thursday 22 September at 21:30 (Prime Time).

Here’s a quick recap of season 1: a beautiful woman is found in Times Square, her memory erased and her body fully covered in a series of coded tattoos: this is Jane (Jaimie Alexander). FBI Agent Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) and his fellow Agents Edgar Reade (Rob Brown), Tasha Zapata (Audrey Esparza) and the tech savvy Patterson (Ashley Johnson) begin an ongoing investigation into solving the complex treasure map of tattoos across her body. Their explorations lead to the unravelling of an ever-widening web of conspiracy and corruption, as well as the revelation of Jane’s real identity and the identity of her deadly consorts.

In the Season 2 premiere, Jane escapes CIA custody, only to be recaptured by the team, who attempt to convince her to become a triple-agent within her old terrorist organization. Some major secrets from her past and present are about to be uncovered. Luke Mitchell (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Michelle Hurd (Hawaii Five-0) and Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife) join the cast.

This week’s #OccupyLuthuliHouse campaign brought tension to the streets flanking the ruling party headquarters. Scuffles broke out between those protesting current ANC party politics and those determined to defend them. Among demands made to the ANC by campaign organisers is a call to immediately recall President Zuma and for the NEC to follow suit and resign. Can the ruling party withstand an onslaught from its own members? Carte Blanche asks: what do these voices of discontent mean for the ANC?

Carte Blanche asks: what are the long term consequences of microplastics on our oceans and our food security?

Disney Junior

Henry Hugglemonster, Disney Junior (DStv Channel 309)’s brand new original 3D animation for preschoolers, will premiere on the channel on Saturday 3 August at 08:35. The series follows the adventures of fun-loving, five-year-old Henry Hugglemonster, the middle child in a happy, close-knit monster family – The Hugglemonsters of Roarsville.

Henry Hugglemonster

Henry Hugglemonster is a preschoolers’ ‘guide to life’ monster-style. Each eleven minute episode transports preschoolers through the ups and downs of Henry’s life as part of a loving, bustling monster family. Enthusiastic Henry talks directly to viewers, sharing his thoughts and feelings as well as the lessons he learns – from saving the monster kids’ Halloween piñata to helping his sister, Summer, realise that her voice is lovely just the way it is!

Henry’s exuberant family are laid back, inventor, big brother Cobby, loving parents Daddo and Momma, extrovert, slightly-older sister Summer, baby brother Ivor and Nan-Oh and Grando Hugglemonster. Not forgetting his best friend Denzel Dugglewug and all the other species of monster families of Roarsville!

Like all Disney Junior programming, Henry Hugglemonster is guided by an established curriculum that nurtures key areas of child development. The series focuses on social and emotional themes and affirms simple, everyday life lessons and positive family and community relationships.

Produced by twice Oscar nominated Brown Bag Films in Dublin, Ireland, the series was developed from children’s book “I’m a Happy Hugglewug” by Children’s Laureate award-winner, Niamh Sharkey, published by Walker Books. The series is directed by Emmy Award-winning Norton Virgien (Rugrats, Doc McStuffins); the lead writer is Sascha Paladino (Wonder Pets, Ni-Hao Kai-Lan); the producer is Gillian Higgins (Doc McStuffins, Octonauts). Dr Laura Brown (Jungle Junction, Third and Bird) served as educational consultant on the series.
