All The Heroes Under One Roof
Held annually in San Diego, California since 1970, Comic-Con International: San Diego, or Comic-Con to the fans, is a four day event full of events, seminars, panels and workshops with comic book professionals, previews of upcoming feature films, portfolio reviews with top comic book and video gaming companies, costume contest, as well as the Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival.
Comic-Con 2012 has seen a vast number of television shows taking the stage.
Comic-con: The Phoenix Has Landed
SAMDB's very own Tanit Phoenix was recently in San Diego for Comic-Con, joining Sharlto Copley, as he promotes the upcoming Elysium (starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster). SAMDB has confirmed that 'yes' they are a couple.
She can be seen on the South African cinema circuit in the Leon Schuster and Disney collaborative comedy, Mad Buddies, as reality television producer Kelsey. The film has the highest opening weekend for a South African film, as R4.5mil, and has a current box-office taking of R20mil.
Tanit has just shot scenes for Spud 2: The Madness Continues in South Africa, with star John Cleese being spotted around Cape Town. The film is once again being shot at SACS.
Death Race: Inferno is another of Tanit's recent roles, alongside Luke Goss (Blade 2, Mercenary for Justice).
The Earth Divided
Elysium, with Matt Damon (The Bourne Trilogy, Oceans 11), Jodie Foster (Flight Plan, Panic Room), Michael Shanks (Stargate) and Sharlto Copley (District 9, The A Team) star in this science fiction drama, set in a future where the population of Earth is divided. The rich live on an orbiting space station, while the rest of the population lives on the ruined Earth below. From this, a man emerges who will fight to bring equality to mankind.
Sharlto is no stranger to Comic-Con, after the vast amount of attention generated by District 9. He is currently filming Maleficent in the UK, along with Angelina Jolie. He and Tanit Phoenix are to attend the premier of The Dark Knight Rises in London.
