Get ready for a Mother’s Day weekend filled with amazing local and international programming – only on DStv.

This week, reality television heads to a place we’ve all been longing for: an escape from our homes. With travel still not on the cards for many, show mom what true hospitality is like with a pamper-filled session in front of the TV.

BBC Lifestyle (DStv channel 174) and 1Magic (DStv channel 103) are cooking up a storm. Top chef and television presenter Ainsley Harriott is back on BBC Lifestyle with a delicious new show, Ainsley’s Food We Love, while 1Magic serves up Fast Foodies, a celeb-fuelled food extravaganza. In Checked Inn, also on 1Magic, former Essence magazine editor Monique Greenwood leaves her cushy New York gig for a chance at happiness and entrepreneurship as she opens her own bed and breakfast.

Dads, why not give mum a break by grabbing the kids for a weekend of magical programming with DStv’s School of Laughter? M-Net (DStv channel 101) returns to summertime with Four Kids and It. Based on the 2012 novel Four Children and It by Jacqueline Wilson, which in turn was based on the 1902 novel Five Children and It by E. Nesbit, the film sees the Trent family go on holiday to Cornwall where the children discover a mysterious creature who is able to grant wishes. Then, gather around for wizards, witches and all things magical with all eight – yes, eight! – Harry Potter films on Showmax. This is one mom won’t want to miss out on!

For a Sunday Night blockbuster with a difference, tune in to Military Wives on M-Net (DStv channel 101). Inspired by a true story of women faced with the absences of their husbands serving in the military in Afghanistan, a group of women come together to form a choir. They soon attract the attention of the media and inspire a global movement. This endearing film will have you smiling and laughing at the same time.

There’s also plenty of local magic on kykNET (DStv channel 144) with the new reality show In Die Sop. The showtakes a deep look into what it takes to run a restaurant, with superstar chef Bertus Basson and a team of experts trekking across Mzansi to guide owners of food trucks, haute cuisine establishments and diners to success. In Madelein, a mother and daughter’s troubled relationship needs to be fixed. Can their eccentric and sometimes difficult to handle matriarch bring the two together?

What’s a weekend without a good dose of sport? Tune in to SuperSport Rugby (DStv channel 211) for Round 2 of the Rainbow Cup South Africa with Cell C Sharks v Emirates Lions and DHL Stormers v Vodacom Bulls.

Help mom put her feet up this week with only the best in entertainment, right here on DStv
