The film follows the carefree Nyles (Andy Samberg) and reluctant maid of honor Sarah (Cristin Milioti) who have a chance encounter at a wedding in the desert resort city of Palm Springs in California. After Sarah is stumbles over her words during her toast, Nyles takes the microphone and delivers an impeccable speech that wins the hearts of everyone there, including Sarah.

The two end up spending the rest of the wedding together. However, soon thereafter, things get complicated when they find themselves unable to escape the venue, themselves, and each other. It quickly becomes apparent that the duo are trapped in a time loop, unable to escape the wedding day.

Palm Springs was produced by comedy trio formed by Akiva Schaffer, Andy Samberg, and Jorma Taccone known as “The Lonely Island”, a crew that, across countless Saturday Night Live shorts or movies like Hot Rod and Popstar, are known and loved for their pop music parody and silly humor. Palm Springs is true to that premise, and takes this further with fascinating, complex characters, excellent comedy and an inventive storyline.

“Weddings, love, family, exes, heartbreak, a whole lot of pain and suffering, a fair amount of joy, babies, beers, burritos, death, war, violence, and finally, sex, drugs, and a big rock with a hole in it. Most of life can be boiled down to these words. So can Palm Springs” – The filmmakers.

“It is no surprise that Palm Springs broke records when the film went on sale at the Sundance Film Festival. With the global pandemic having wreaked havoc in all of our lives, the timing for this razor-sharp comedy is perfect” said Benjamin Cowley, CEO Gravel Road Distribution Group. “It is ingeniously funny and a remarkably apt comedic take on life today” he added.
