Nigerian-American actor, model and singer, Olurotimi ‘Rotimi’ Akinosho, plays Erica Ash’s love interest in film shot in beautiful Mauritius
Rotimi Akinosho, R&B chart-topping singer and star of the American television show ‘Power’, stars opposite Erica Ash (‘Survivor’s Remorse’, ‘Uncle Drew’), Stephen Bishop (‘Being Mary Jane’), Tyson Beckford (superstar model and actor), Vanessa A. Williams (‘New Jack City’, ‘Soul Food’) and Adrian Martinez (‘Focus’, ‘I Feel Pretty’) in the American romantic comedy feature ‘Singleholic’.
The movie, which is an American-South African co-production, is an adventure in the spirit of ‘Sex & the City’ and ‘Girls Trip’. It tells the story of Sarah (Erica Ash), an awkward, loveable, and honest woman who moves to Mauritius to pursue her PhD after a painful breakup with her boyfriend. While there, she goes on a series of very funny dating encounters only to realise that the key to her happiness is to first be comfortable in her own skin.
‘Singleholic’, filmed on location in Mauritius, is produced by Milan Selassie and is based on the novel by the same name from English author Katherine Bing. Bryan Barber served as the director.
“The book was the first romantic comedy I read that deals with women being completely open about what their needs are and what they think,” says Selassie. “It’s funny, irreverent, relevant, and insightful. Women who have seen the film have told me that it could be the story of their life. Whether you’re female or male, you are in for a few good belly laughs.”
‘Singleholic’ is distributed in South Africa by Indigenous Film Distribution and will release in cinemas in February 2022.
