Ruger shows no signs of stopping as The Second Wave Deluxe EP, follows swiftly on from its predecessor Second Wave EP,  which spawned the gigantic hit single ‘Dior’  #1 across Africa (Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Namibia, Liberia Gambia, Chad and Seychelles) firmly establishing himself as one the hottest artists to watch coming out of the continent right now.Ruger has been nonstop since arriving on the scene 18 months ago, with over 100 million streams amassed on his discography to date.

In just over a year Ruger’s arrival on to the music scene has been huge. Included in Vogue’s 22 musicians to watch for 2022and with co-signs from the likes of Davido, Don Jazzy, Popcaan, Burna Boy and more, Ruger has become one of the new hottest names. With a current tour schedule around the world, his music has captured the attention of many. Most recently, His breakout single “Bounce” was nominated for ‘Best Afrobeats Single’ in this year’s Headies Awards.              

Kicking off 2021 with his debut single One Shirt featuring Jonzing label mates Rema and D’Prince, Ruger captured fans with his vocal and lyrical abilities. Following this release with what was one of the biggest Afrobeats singles of the year, Bounce saw his profile skyrocket. With a UK remix from Midas the Jagaban, the single now sits on over 70 million streams and views. Releasing successive EPs Pandemic and Second Wave showcased the singer-songwriter’s range and sonic breadth.

22-year-old Lagosian Ruger has spent the past few years developing his artistry, with the guidance of the Jonzing World musical incubator. Working with producer KukBeats to home in his self-described “crazy, energetic and real” Afro-Dancehall sound. RUGER draws reference from a childhood filled with a breadth of musical influences including 2Face, Gyptian, Bob Marley and Sunday’s spent drumming and singing in his Church choir. Using his life experiences as a basis of his storytelling, RUGER uses music as a means of expression, with the goal to see “the whole world… on their feet”.
