Neve Campbell has signed on to reprise her iconic role as Sidney Prescott from the preceding four films in the “Scream” franchise, it was announced today by Spyglass Media Group, LLC (\u201cSpyglass\u201d) and Paramount Pictures. Campbell joins previously announced legacy cast members David Arquette and Courteney Cox who will return as Dewey Riley and Gale Weathers, as well as new cast members Jack Quaid (\u201cThe Boys\u201d), Melissa Barrera (\u201cIn The Heights\u201d) and Jenna Ortega (\u201cYou\u201d). Production will shoot in Wilmington, North Carolina. Spyglass and Paramount Pictures will release the film worldwide on January 14, 2022. Casting updates to follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am beyond excited to step back into the role of Sidney Prescott and return to Woodsboro.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Up next, Campbell will star in the inspiring film \u201cClouds,\u201d based on the life of Zach Sobiech and book by Laura Sobiech \u201cFly A Little Higher: How God Answered a Mom\u2019s Small Prayer in a Big Way,\u201d which debuts on Disney+ this Fall. Campbell is well-known for playing Julia Salinger in the hit series \u201cParty of Five\u201d and held prominent roles in such films as \u201cThe Craft,\u201d and \u201cThree to Tango.\u201d She starred in and produced \u201cThe Company,\u201d directed by Robert Altman. She also starred in Netflix\u2019s political thriller series \u201cHouse of Cards.\u201d Most recently, she starred in the action thriller \u201cSkyscraper,\u201d the political dramatic comedy \u201cHot Air,\u201d and the drama \u201cCastle in the Ground.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Scream” is being directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of the filmmaking group Radio Silence (\u201cReady or Not,\u201d \u201cV\/H\/S\u201d) from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt (\u201cMurder Mystery,\u201d \u201cZodiac,\u201d \u201cThe Amazing Spider-Man\u201d) and Guy Busick (\u201cReady or Not,\u201d \u201cCastle Rock\u201d). Creator Kevin Williamson and the third member of the Radio Silence trio, Chad Villella, are executive producing with Project X Entertainment\u2019s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak serving as producers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cScream\u201d is a long-running genre-busting horror franchise which generated four feature films including \u201cScream\u201d (1996), \u201cScream 2\u201d (1997), \u201cScream 3\u201d (2000) and \u201cScream 4\u201d (2011). Directed by famed \u201cmaestro of horror,\u201d the late Wes Craven, the films went on to gross more than $600 million in worldwide box office receipts.  Williamson wrote the original film as well as \u201cScream 2\u201d and \u201cScream 4.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
