{"id":11562,"date":"2021-04-12T10:49:17","date_gmt":"2021-04-12T08:49:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/?p=11562"},"modified":"2021-04-12T10:49:19","modified_gmt":"2021-04-12T08:49:19","slug":"ee-british-academy-film-awards-all-winners-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/blog\/2021\/04\/12\/ee-british-academy-film-awards-all-winners-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"EE British Academy Film Awards: All Winners Announced"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The 2021 EE British Academy Film Awards, presented over two ceremonies in one weekend, celebrated the very best in film of the past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nomadland<\/strong>&nbsp;won four BAFTAs:&nbsp;<em>Best Film, Director&nbsp;<\/em>for&nbsp;<strong>Chlo\u00e9 Zhao<\/strong>,&nbsp;<em>Leading Actress<\/em>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<strong>Frances McDormand<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<em>Cinematography<\/em>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<strong>Joshua James Richards<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Promising Young Woman<\/strong>&nbsp;won two awards:&nbsp;<em>Outstanding British Film<\/em>, and&nbsp;<em>Original Screenplay<\/em>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<strong>Emerald Fennell<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Father<\/strong>&nbsp;won two awards:&nbsp;<em>Leading Actor<\/em>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<strong>Anthony Hopkins<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<em>Adapted Screenplay<\/em>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<strong>Christopher Hampton<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Florian Zeller<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Supporting Actor<\/em>&nbsp;was won by&nbsp;<strong>Daniel Kaluuya<\/strong>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<strong>Judas and the Black Messiah<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Supporting Actress&nbsp;<\/em>was awarded to&nbsp;<strong>Yuh-Jung Youn<\/strong>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<strong>Minari<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Soul<\/strong>&nbsp;won&nbsp;<em>Animated Film<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Original Score<\/em>.&nbsp;<strong>Another Round<\/strong>&nbsp;won&nbsp;<em>Film Not in the English Language<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sound of Metal&nbsp;<\/strong>won&nbsp;<em>Editing and Sound<\/em>.&nbsp;<strong>Ma Rainey\u2019s Black Bottom<\/strong>&nbsp;won&nbsp;<em>Costume Design<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Make Up &amp; Hair.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Writer\/director<strong>&nbsp;Remi Weekes<\/strong>&nbsp;received the award for<em>&nbsp;Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer<\/em>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<strong>His House<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>My Octopus Teacher<\/strong>&nbsp;won&nbsp;<em>Documentary<\/em>,&nbsp;<strong>Rocks<\/strong>&nbsp;won&nbsp;<em>Casting<\/em>,&nbsp;<strong>Tenet&nbsp;<\/strong>won&nbsp;<em>Special Visual Effects<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Mank<\/strong>&nbsp;won&nbsp;<em>Production Design<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Present&nbsp;<\/strong>won the&nbsp;<em>British Short Film award<\/em>, while the BAFTA for<em>&nbsp;British Short Animation<\/em>&nbsp;was won by<strong>&nbsp;The Owl and the Pussycat<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Special Award for&nbsp;<em>Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema&nbsp;<\/em>was presented to filmmaker&nbsp;<strong>Noel Clarke<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Fellowship, the highest honour the Academy can bestow, was introduced by Hugh Grant and presented to director&nbsp;<strong>Ang Lee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>EE Rising Star Award<\/em>, voted for by the public, went to&nbsp;<strong>Bukky Bakray<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sunday\u2019s ceremony, hosted by Edith Bowman and Dermot O\u2019Leary, was held at London\u2019s Royal Albert Hall with nominees attending virtually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The show included three featured musical performances: by Liam Payne, Celeste, and Leslie Odom Jr. (from Los Angeles) and Corinne Bailey Rae.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Saturday 10 April, the \u2018Opening Night\u2019 ceremony was hosted by Clara Amfo, who was joined by guests Rhianna Dhillon and Joanna Scanlan at the Royal Albert Hall. The programme gave audiences an in-depth insight into the filmmaking process, and the winners in eight categories were revealed.\u00a0 The show was broadcast on BBC Two and BBC Two HD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of BAFTA\u2019s year-round programme of learning events and initiatives, 50 of this year\u2019s nominees across 10 categories took part in \u2018BAFTA Film: The Sessions\u2019 from 22 March \u2013 1 April.
