This marks the first locally commissioned series for A+E Networks in Africa.<\/p>\n<p><em>Pawn Stars South Africa\u00a0<\/em>(16 x 30\u2019) will incorporate all the elements that have made the\u00a0<em>Pawn Stars<\/em>\u00a0format such an international success.\u00a0<em>Pawn Stars South Africa<\/em>\u00a0is set in the Cash Inn pawn shop in Hyde Park, Johannesburg, with a cast of engaging and enthusiastic real-life characters and an array of unusual or historically significant objects. The new series will transmit on HISTORY in Africa in 2014.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Heather Jones, VP of Programming at A+E Networks UK<\/strong>, said: \u2018\u2019We are delighted to announce a South African version of this entertaining hit series.\u00a0\u00a0<em>Pawn Stars South Africa<\/em>\u00a0builds on the brand\u2019s global success, with a charismatic team who share their love of history through the fascinating stories behind the intriguing artefacts in each episode.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Pawn Stars South Africa<\/em>\u00a0is being produced for A+E Networks UK by independent local production company Rapid Blue<em>,<\/em>which has a reputation for executing high quality international entertainment formats.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kee-Leen Irvine, Managing Director of Rapid Blue<\/strong>, said: \u201cWe are very excited to be producing the first series of\u00a0<em>Pawn Stars South Africa<\/em>\u00a0and look forward to showcasing some of our fascinating history and culture in the process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is the second local version of the show to be commissioned by Rachel Job,\u00a0Channel Editor for HISTORY UK.\u00a0<em>Pawn Stars UK<\/em>, which launched in 2013, was the\u00a0highest-rated launch for an original commission for HISTORY UK.\u00a0The series has been re-commissioned for a second season and will premiere in the UK and Africa later this year.<\/p>\n<p><em>Pawn Stars South Africa<\/em>\u00a0is produced with input from\u00a0HISTORY\u00ae in the\u00a0UK and Leftfield Pictures, part of Leftfield Entertainment, an ITV Studios company which produces the original US series\u00a0<em>Pawn Stars\u00a0<\/em>and<em>\u00a0Pawn Stars UK<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A+E Networks\u00ae UK\u00a0has commissioned a South African version of the global hit HISTORY\u00ae series,\u00a0Pawn Stars.
