Several of Europe\u2019s premiere leagues including the <strong><em>Scottish Premiership<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>English Football League<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>Eredivisie<\/em><\/strong> and <strong><em>Turkish Super Lig<\/em><\/strong> will air on ESPN (DStv 218, Starsat 248) across Africa, bringing the adrenalin-filled action from the pitch live to viewers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong><em>Scottish Professional Football League <\/em><\/strong>gets set in motion for all four major Scottish leagues from Saturday 31 July with the top division in the country, the <strong><em>Scottish Premiership<\/em><\/strong>,airing exclusively on ESPN Africa. Current champions <em>Rangers<\/em> and manager Steven Garrad will be looking to defend their title with a newly-bolstered squad that includes two new African signings, Nigerian midfielder Nnamdi Ofoborh joining from <em>Bournemouth<\/em> and Zambia\u2019s Fashion Sakala, previously with Belgian club <em>Oostende<\/em>. The <em>Rangers<\/em> vs <em>Livingston<\/em> match will broadcast live at 14:30. <em>Celtic<\/em> go into the new season with their new manager at the helm, Australian Ange Postecoglou, being provided his first coaching opportunity in Europe. They face <em>Hearts<\/em> at 21:00, with this match also broadcasting live on ESPN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following weekend, from Friday 6 August, the <strong><em>English Football League <\/em><\/strong>takes centre stage as the EFL Championship, EFL League One and EFL League Two campaigns kick off across England. All eyes will be on the Championship where <em>Sheffield United<\/em>, <em>Fulham<\/em> and <em>West Bromwich Albion<\/em> will be competing to win back promotion to the English Premier League. With a number of coaching moves, including Marco Silva\u2019s appointment at&nbsp; <em>Fulham<\/em> following Scott Parker\u2019s departure to <em>Bournemouth<\/em> and Slavisa Jokanovic finding a home at Bramall Lane and taking charge at <em>Sheffield United<\/em>, it\u2019s all to play for as Premier League glory beckons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ESPN viewers can settle in for a super <strong><em>English Football League <\/em><\/strong>kick-off weekend. On Friday 6 August, <em>Bournemouth<\/em> take on <em>West Bromwich Albion<\/em> at Vitality Stadium at 20:45. <em>Blackburn Rovers<\/em> will play <em>Swansea City<\/em> at 16:00, with <em>Charlton Athletic<\/em> playing against <em>Sheffield Wednesday<\/em> at 18:30 and <em>Sheffield United<\/em> taking on <em>Birmingham City<\/em> at 21:00. On Sunday 8 August, <em>Fulham<\/em> will play <em>Middlesbrough<\/em> at 14:30 after which <em>Coventry City<\/em> will face <em>Nottingham Forest<\/em> from the Richo Arena at 17:30, with all of these matches broadcasting live. Thereafter, ESPN will air the matches on Saturdays at 13:30 and 16:00 through to May 2022, when the much-anticipated play-off rounds begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br \/>Fans will be keen to follow local players on the field during the Championship including DRC striker Benik Afobe joining <em>Millwall<\/em> on loan from <em>Stoke City<\/em>, Ivory Coast striker Yakou Meite who will be hoping to build on his impressive 2020\/ 21 season for <em>Reading.<\/em> <em>Barnsley\u2019s<\/em> Kenyan defender Clarke Oduor and <em>Blackburn Rovers<\/em> fullback Ryan Nyambe of Namibia \u2013 will both be looking to make their mark this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new season of the Netherlands\u2019 highest level of professional football, the popular Dutch&nbsp; <strong><em>Eredivisie<\/em><\/strong>, begins on 13 August with ESPN with four matchups being broadcast across Africa that weekend. <em>Heracles Almelo<\/em> will play <em>PSV Eindhoven<\/em> on Saturday 14 August at 18:45 while Ajax <em>Amsterdam<\/em> will face <em>NEC Nijmegen<\/em> later that day at 21:00. <em>SC Cambuur<\/em> will play <em>FC Groningen<\/em> the following day at 12:30, with <em>Willem II<\/em> taking <em>on Feyenoord<\/em> at 16:45. Thereafter ESPN will broadcast selected <strong><em>Eredivisie<\/em><\/strong> matches, including those played by Champions <em>Ajax Amsterdam<\/em>, <em>PSV Eindhoven<\/em> and <em>Feyenoord<\/em> as well as the 12:30 match every Sunday. Notable local talent include<em> Ajax Amsterdam\u2019s<\/em> Ghanaian attacking midfielder Mohammed Kudus and Moroccan right back Noussair Mazraoui, <em>PSV Eindhoven\u2019s<\/em> impressive Ivorian midfielder Ibrahim Sangar\u00e9, <em>Sparta Rotterdam\u2019s <\/em>Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye as well as <em>Feyenoord\u2019s<\/em> 18-year old Senegalese winger Aliou Bald\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Turkey\u2019s top professional football league, the <strong><em>Turkish Super Lig<\/em><\/strong>, kicks off two weeks later, on Sunday 15 August.
