Saarkie celebrates women’s month with new member, single, music video and album<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Popular female rock group, SAARKIE<\/strong>, has always been unique. They have been recreating the local rock \u2019n roll scene in Afrikaans and English for the past fifteen years and have decided to celebrate Women\u2019s Month with a brand-new member, single, music video and album! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alouise, a.k.a. Ella, has recently joined the group as bassist and singer. The Free Stater from Bethlehem, who has been playing the piano since she was three, has been working in the music industry for ten years.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPlaying with Ad\u00e8le and Lila is such a privilege,\u201d<\/em> she says about this exciting opportunity. \u201cI fell in love with their sound when I started playing their songs and look forward to working with them in the future.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Ghoema-award winning musician and songwriter (Bella & Buster<\/em>) made her debut in 2011 as part of the group, Onbeskaamd, with whom she still performs occasionally. She is also part of Bok van Blerk\u2019s band. In addition to working on her own music when she is not on stage, she is also a music teacher and cyclist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ad\u00e8le and Lila are very excited to have her on board and say: \u201cWe feel that Ella challenges us, as musicians, and that she brings something new to the table. Our fans can look forward to what we have planned for the future.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make things even more exciting, the girls have decided to release a brand-new single, music video and album, which still features former band mate Mj\u00f6n van Blommenstein\u2019s amazing musical skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMj\u00f6n started a new business during lockdown that takes up a lot of her time,\u201d<\/em> share Ad\u00e8le Fouch\u00e9 and Lila Botha. \u201cIt is always sad to lose a sister and we are going to miss her.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

WAAR L\u00ca JOU HART?<\/em><\/strong> is the third release from their new album and was written by Ad\u00e8le. According to her, this Afrikaans \u201cAfro-Pop\u201d song is about where your heart is during these uncertain times that forces you to do a \u201creality check\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt invites listeners to go on an adventure with us. To break away, to live in the moment and to forget about problems and stress,\u201d<\/em> she shares. \u201cWe like the song because it has an upbeat sound and makes you want to get into your car and drive away into the sunset.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The music video, produced by Unbreakable Media<\/a>\u2019s Marlie van Oudtshoorn, suits the theme of the song perfectly and shows the three Saarkies road tripping in a 1969 BMW 1602 Bauer LHD Cabriolet. It was filmed in the Rietvlei Nature Reserve and the car was supplied by Wat Swaai Jy?<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe idea was inspired by the song and the message is that you need to know where someone\u2019s heart is when inviting them to go on a road trip with you,\u201d<\/em> they say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WAAR L\u00ca JOU HART?<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>follows hot on the heels of Re\u00ebnweer<\/em><\/a> and River Blues<\/em><\/a>, which were both very well received and can still be heard on the radio.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All three songs are available on their latest album, WAAR L\u00ca JOU HART?<\/em><\/strong> that boasts an impressive combination of twelve catchy tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Ghoema acclaimed female group, this contemporary pop-rock album is their way of moving forward after a very challenging time and. For this reason, they decided not to stick to one specific concept or theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCovid gave us a new appreciation for life. We wrote about people, places, places and things that mean something to us,\u201d<\/em> the trio explains. \u201cWe want our music to be relatable and make listeners feel both relaxed and exited at the same time. It\u2019s something you can listen to in the car or next to a bonfire with the people you love.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to two of their existing hits and some exciting new songs, the album also includes a duet with Jak de Priester of his popular track, Sally Williams Nougat<\/em>. Mozambique<\/em> is their favourite on the album: \u201cIt has an up-tempo beat and relaxed holiday vibe. Mozambique is a place where you can let your hair down without too many rules. Where you can drive around on the beach with your 4×4, chill around the campfire and indulge in R&R\u2019s.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Die gewilde rockgroep, SAARKIE<\/strong>, was nog altyd anders en het nog altyd aandag getrek waar ookal hulle gaan. Hulle ruk en rol al vyftien jaar in Afrikaans \u00e9n Engels en hierdie jaar vier hulle Vrouemaand met \u2019n splinternuwe enkelsnit, musiekvideo, album \u00e9n lid!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Alouise, oftewel Ella, neem haar plek in as baskitaarspeler en sanger in die groep. Hierdie Vrystater van Bethlehem speel al klavier vandat sy drie is en werk nou amptelik tien jaar in die musiekbedryf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cDit is \u2019n groot voorreg om saam met<\/em> Ad\u00e8le en Lila musiek te maak en dit voel asof ek my musiek vryheid gee wanneer ek dit doen,\u201d<\/em> s\u00ea sy oor hierdie opwindende geleentheid. \u201cEk het verlief geraak op hulle klank toe ek eers agter die baskitaar inspring om die liedjies te leer en sien uit na die toekoms.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Hierdie Ghoema-bekroonde musikant en liedjieskrywer (Bella & Buster<\/em>) het in 2011 haar debuut gemaak as deel van die groep, Onbeskaamd, en speel steeds so af en toe saam met hulle, asook saam met Bok van Blerk se band<\/em>. Wanneer sy nie op die verhoog is nie, is sy \u2019n musiekonderwyser en fietsryer en werk sy ook daaraan om haar eie musiek op te neem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Ad\u00e8le en Lila is baie opgewonde om haar aan boord te h\u00ea en s\u00ea: \u201c<\/em>Ons voel dat Ella ons, as musikante, uitdaag en dat sy iets nuuts na die tafel toe bring. Ons aanhangers kan uitsien na wat voorl\u00ea.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens haar gaan hierdie Afrikaanse \u201cAfrican Pop<\/em>\u201d-liedjie oor waar \u2019n mens se hart l\u00ea in hierdie onsekere tye wat jou dwing om \u2019n \u201creality check<\/em>\u201d te doen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cDit is \u2019n uitnodiging vir iemand om saam met jou weg te gaan op \u2019n avontuur. Weg te breek, te leef in die oomblik en te vergeet van probleme en stres,\u201d<\/em> deel sy. \u201cOns hou van die liedjie want dit het \u2019n opwindende ritme en dit wil jou maak in die kar klim en na die sonsondergang toe ry.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Die musiekvideo, wat deur Unbreakable Media<\/a> se Marlie van Oudtshoorn vervaardig is, sluit perfek by die tema van die liedjie aan en gaan oor die drie Saarkies wat die pad vat \u2013 in \u2019n 1969 BMW 1602 Bauer LHD Cabriolet \u2013 om \u2019n avontuur aan te pak.     Al drie snitte is beskikbaar op hulle nuutste album, WAAR L\u00ca JOU HART?<\/strong><\/em>, wat pas vrygestel is en \u2019n indrukwekkende kombinasie van twaalf lekkerluister-snitte bevat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
