{"id":1308,"date":"2015-02-04T20:07:32","date_gmt":"2015-02-04T18:07:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/?p=1308"},"modified":"2015-02-04T20:07:32","modified_gmt":"2015-02-04T18:07:32","slug":"lifetime-africa-commissions-first-local-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.samdb.co.za\/blogs\/blog\/2015\/02\/04\/lifetime-africa-commissions-first-local-series\/","title":{"rendered":"Lifetime Africa Commissions First Local Series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A+E Networks\u00ae UK has commissioned a South African version of the reality series <em>Four Weddings<\/em> after signing a deal with ITV Studios Global Entertainment for the format.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first locally commissioned series for Lifetime\u00ae in Africa, and the second for A+E Networks UK, which launched <em>Pawn Stars South Africa<\/em> on HISTORY\u00ae in October 2014. The series will premiere later in 2015.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Heather Jones, VP of Programming at A+E Networks UK<\/strong>, said: \u2018\u2019We are delighted to announce a South African version of this very entertaining series. Every local production of <em>Four Weddings<\/em> has created a \u2018talk about\u2019 piece of TV and we expect the same for Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Each episode of<em> Four Weddings South Africa <\/em>(8 x 60\u2019) follows four opinionated and competitive brides who think their weddings are better than anyone else&#8217;s. The brides attend each other&#8217;s weddings and score on four important components: venue, food, dress and overall experience. The bride with the highest score wins an indulgent honeymoon, along with the pride of having the best wedding.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dan Gopal, EVP EMEA, Distribution for ITV Studios Global Entertainment<\/strong> said: \u201c<em>Four Weddings<\/em> has been produced in more than 20 territories around the world and every bride has a very different idea of their perfect day. We look forward to seeing what South African brides have to offer in the battle for the best wedding!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Four Weddings South Africa<\/em> has been commissioned by Koulla Anastasi, Director of Programming for Lifetime and Crime + Investigation\u2122 and is being produced by Rapid Blue.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kee-Leen Irvine, Managing Director of Rapid Blue<\/strong>, said: \u201cWe are really looking forward to working with Lifetime on this commission, especially because Lifetime is a new and exciting channel in the market and this is its first locally produced series.
