The series, presented by Ally, will be available to watch on GLAAD\u2019s YouTube and social media accounts, with the first episode premiering today exclusively via\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.advocate.com\/news\/2021\/9\/30\/beloved-brand-kngsley-tells-story-new-glaad-series\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Advocate<\/em><\/a>. A new episode will launch each month through December 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u201cChangemakers\u201d Episode 1: K.NGSLEY\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8n-KGH_F3uc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The series premiere, released today, spotlights Kingsley Gbadegesin, a first-generation Nigerian-American and a New York\u2013based creator working to advance liberation for the Black community, the queer community, and people of color. Kingsley is the founder and creator behind K.NGSLEY, a Black-owned brand aiming to reclaim and redefine the Black, queer, femme body and to create the tangible, direct support communities need today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>K.NGSLEY is currently available online at k.ngsley.com and stocked at Nordstrom, Fred Segal, and launches in new doors this Fall. Learn more about K.NGSLEY&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/k.ngsley.com\/pages\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cChangemakers\u201d series is produced by NEON, GLAAD&#8217;s ongoing digital content series that aims to increase the visibility of Black LGBTQ people. NEON leverages the power of storytelling and GLAAD\u2019s platform to create multi-dimensional, accurate portraits of the Black LGBTQ experience. In a series of intimate interviews, the new \u201cChangemakers\u201d series aims to amplify the stories of local heroes, and send messages of support and inspiration to LGBTQ and Black-owned small businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ally is donating $10,000 to each \u201cChangemaker\u201d business ($40,000 total) to empower them to continue making positive change through their business into their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately impacted Black communities and businesses across the United States. In creating this project, I wanted to spotlight how brands can show up for Black LGBTQ small businesses owners in authentic and meaningful ways,\u201d said Abdool Corlette, GLAAD\u2019s Creative Director and co-founder of NEON. \u201cIn addition to Ally\u2019s financial contributions to these four small businesses, this series helps to elevate the stories of the incredible people behind these change-making businesses, allowing viewers to connect and learn about the challenges and triumphs of being a small business owner during these unprecedented times.\u201d<br \/><br \/>\u201cWe\u2019re excited to work with GLAAD on this project that shines a light on the important contributions these Black LGBTQ business owners made in the face of a global pandemic and will continue to do in years to come,\u201d said Reggie Willis, chief diversity officer at Ally. \u201cThe Changemakers video series fosters an inclusive environment that celebrates peoples&#8217; differences, which is something we encourage with our teammates at Ally every day.\u201d<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>NEON launched in February 2020 with its ongoing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.glaad.org\/blog\/neon-releases-newest-photo-and-video-its-black-history-legacy-series-featuring-twiggy-pucci\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Black history legacy series<\/a>, showcasing current Black LGBTQ leaders from multiple disciplines as they pay homage to groundbreaking Black figures of the past. Shortly after the launch, NEON inserted LGBTQ issues into the conversation on the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fiX-PDbJK9g\" target=\"_blank\">red carpet of the 51st NAACP Image Awards<\/a>, specifically asking celebrities about Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union\u2019s support for their transgender daughter Zaya. Since then, NEON has also produced its \u201cBlack Queer Love Stories\u201d video series, which premiered in\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.advocate.com\/people\/2021\/3\/16\/brooklyn-couple-their-wedding-and-power-black-queer-love\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Advocate<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NEON also conducts weekly interviews on Instagram with Black LGBTQ creatives across a variety of industries to speak about the importance of Black LGBTQ visibility and representation.
