Herman Kleinhans<\/strong> is a Ghoema acclaimed musician best-known as the 2015-winner of the Afri-Visie Songwriting Competition and as a member of the group, TWEE.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2020 he released two hit songs, Vliegtuig<\/em> and Dankie<\/em> that can still be heard on various radio stations across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now this versatile singer-songwriter is back in the spotlight with the release of his latest single, HAAL \u2019N BIETJIE ASEM<\/em><\/strong>, which is also the theme song of the popular kykNET series, Alles<\/em> Malan<\/em>. The second season of this gripping show is expected to start airing at the end of November 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Kleinhans, who was commissioned to write the song for the series, it boasts a universal theme and catchy tune that stays with you long after hearing it for the first time. \u201cIn life, we often encounter problems and heartache, but it is easier to deal with when you have the right people in your corner,\u201d<\/em> he explains. \u201cThe Malan-family in \u2018Alles Malan\u2019 is the perfect example. As long as there is unity, nothing can subdue you.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He feels very privileged to be part of this project and considers it as one of the biggest highlights of his career so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is such an honour that Corn\u00e9 and Ren\u00e9 van Rooyen approached me to be part of such a remarkable series. Once I read the script, the rest happened very spontaneously,\u201d <\/em>shares the singer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The song was produced by Vonk Musiek\u2019s Tertius Human at Coolerbox Brothers Studio and is the third release from his album, Ruite Oop<\/em>, which is available online at: https:\/\/lnk.to\/081txIZY<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have always been impressed with TWEE\u2019s sound. Herman has a way of resonating and evoking emotion with listeners. It inspired us and was the feeling we wanted to exploit in \u2018Alles Malan\u2019\u201d,<\/em> says producer Ren\u00e9 van Rooyen about their choice to approach him about the theme song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Ren\u00e9, fans can look forward to even more trials for the Malan family in the next season of this popular series. \u201cNico and Lee-Anne are expecting a baby, while Frik is struggling with Malan Transport and Tessa\u2019s career is flourishing. Brenda tries to enter the business world, while Elani has to choose between Johan and a new man in her life. Freek falls in love with the school\u2019s most popular girl but must first save her from a dangerous matric boy,\u201d<\/em> she shares. \u201cWe are exploring how the role of males in modern Afrikaans families are changing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

HAAL \u2019N BIETJIE ASEM<\/em><\/strong> is also complemented by a music video that shows different families, from across the country, gathering in their living rooms to watch Alles Malan;<\/em> with Herman wandering through each living room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe idea was to show different living rooms where \u2018Alles Malan\u2019 is being watched, but without walls to give the idea that people allow the series into their lives, just like the viewer is allowed into the Malans\u2019 world when watching the story,\u201d<\/em> explains producer Megan Gannon. \u201cWe also had to create a system that shows the same episode on each television in the video to make it look like everyone is watching the episode together.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was filmed at Atlantic Studios in the Cape by a cameraman on rollerblades. Director Pierre-Arnold Theron of DPK Productions came up with the concept and headed up the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n
