With a debut album that has been streamed more than 200 000 times since September 2021, the talented singer and songwriter, Gerduan Kemp<\/strong>, definitely needs no introduction in Afrikaans music circles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now the Pretorian is back in the spotlight with a moving duet with popular Die Kontrak<\/em> contestant, Tasha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AL DIE WOORDE<\/em><\/strong> is the fourth original single from his debut album, Sesde Sintuig<\/em>, and is an Afrikaans pop song about the promises a couple makes when they get married.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI wrote the song with Hugo Ludik and Nick Jordaan, and we chose the theme because promises play such an important role in a relationship, even if it\u2019s something we seldom talk about,\u201d<\/em> he explains. \u201cThe inspiration only really hit me when I realized how powerful promises can be. We focused specifically on wedding vows and how couples are able to hold on to them when faced with difficult times.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Gerduan, it has always been the plan to include a duet with a unique sound on his first album. He has been an admirer of Tasha\u2019s music for a long time and immediately knew that their voices would be the perfect combination for this song. After contacting her on Facebook, she agreed to work with him, and the rest is history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was looking for someone with a nice voice, who would complement mine and our voices fit perfectly,\u201d<\/em> he says. \u201cTasha is an incredible musician and impressed me from the get-go. We also had a lot of fun together and I’m glad we were able to work together.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A music video of this duet is now available online. It was filmed in the Cape (Paarl and Koggel Bay) by Leon Barnardt and edited by Gerduan himself. \u201cWhat makes the video different is that it was not planned in formal music video fashion. We just wanted to have fun and capture it on camera. The well-known TikTok star, Mel Die Storie Verteller, was also there to provide some input and we simply chose clothes from our trunks for each scene<\/em>,\u201d the musician shares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
