The Real Housewives of Lagos <\/em>(RHOLagos<\/em>) <\/em>is now streaming on Showmax, after trending at number one on Twitter from 5pm on Thursday for 15 hours straight ahead of its Friday, 8am launch (with no sign of dropping down the charts at the time of writing).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSeeing The Real Housewives of Lagos<\/em> trend at #1 on Twitter in South Africa confirms what we knew all along: that this is going to be not just a hit Nigerian show but a pan-African one,\u201d says Candice Fangueiro, head of content at Showmax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest edition of the hit reality TV show franchise follows the opulent lives of six of the most glamorous women in Africa\u2019s largest megacity: businesswoman Carolyna Hutchings, lawyer and luxury hair brand owner Chioma Ikokwu, Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, influencer Laura Ikeji-Kanu, PR expert Mariam Timmer, and celebrity stylist Toyin Lawani-Adebayo. In true Lagos style, they will be serving up all the high fashion, luxury, drama, and power-moves that the franchise is known and loved for globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Africa\u2019s biggest stars turned out en masse in their finest at last night\u2019s pink carpet South African premiere, hosted by Bonang Matheba at Summerplace in Sandton, Johannesburg. Chioma, Iyabo, Mariam, and Toyin all jetted in for the event, where they were joined by The Real Housewives of Durban<\/em>\u2019s Annie Ludick-Mthembu, Jojo Robinson, LaConco, Londie London, and Nonku Williams. Twitter had a lot to say about who had the best looks – the start of what looks set to be a juicy rivalry between the two shows, with #RHODurban trending at number two on Twitter in South Africa, just behind #RHOLagos, at the time of writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Johannesburg premiere comes hot on the heels of the RHOLagos <\/em>premiere held at the magnificent The Jewel Aedia in Lekki, Lagos, hosted by Toke Makinwa (talk show host on BBNaija: The Buzz <\/em>and Talk with Toke Makinwa<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RHOLagos <\/em>will be the first Nigerian instalment of the award-winning franchise, distributed internationally by NBCUniversal Formats, which is part of Universal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group. This also marks the 16th international version of The Real Housewives<\/em> format and the third African adaptation, following the success of The Real Housewives of Johannesburg<\/em><\/a> <\/em>and Durban<\/em><\/a>, both now streaming on Showmax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RHOLagos <\/em>will stream on Showmax throughout Africa, the United Kingdom and other international markets such as Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
