Season 2 of Troukoors (Wedding Fever) <\/em>is now available to binge first on Showmax, with Season 1 premiering on kykNET on Sunday, 15 May 2022 at 8pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Troukoors<\/em> follows three best friends: wedding planner Jessica (Ilse-Lee van Niekerk); her sister Luca (Blyde Smit), a software developer; and her best friend Abi (Fleur du Cap nominee Bianca Flanders), a professional baker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Season 1 of the hit Showmax Original romcom is up for Best Produced TV Script and Best Script In An Indigenous Language at The Writers Guild of South Africa Muse Awards, taking place on 21 May 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Season 2 starts with Jessica still together with tasty chef Liam (Christiaan Schoombie); Luca trying to maintain a long-distance relationship with fantasy writer Stefan (Evan Hengst); and Abi on a sex fast we all know is going to be short-lived\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Early reviews are glowing. \u201cYou will feel a bit like someone dropped you in glitter when you watch this season,\u201d says tvplus<\/em> editor Lucia Poolman (you\u2019ll get the reference when you watch the show). \u201cIt\u2019s the perfect after party for Season 1, with everything coming together like a beautifully layered wedding cake: light, but substantial enough to fill you up; sweet with an unexpected zing in the twists that leaves a lingering aftertaste. You will wish there was more, even though the ending is spot-on.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Troukoors<\/em> was created by SAFTA winner Louis Pretorius and SAFTA nominee Albert Snyman of Infinity Films (Die Boekklub<\/em>, Fynskrif<\/em>), with regular collaborator Nina Swart directing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019ve assembled an all-star cast, which includes 2021 SAFTA winner and 2022 KKNK Kanna Award winner Tinarie van Wyk Loots (Fynskrif<\/em>) as Jessica\u2019s boss, Catherine; Huisgenoot Tempo Award winner Armand Aucamp (Die Boekklub<\/em>) as Dawid, her ex boyfriend and fellow event planner; SAFTA nominee Monique Rockman (Gaia<\/em>, Nommer 37<\/em>) as Yolandie, a waitress at Jakes; and 2022 Kanna nominee Edwin van der Walt (Wonderlus<\/em>) as one of Liam\u2019s friends.\u00a0
Season 2 adds even more star power. Marlo Minnaar plays Hugo, a maths tutor who catches Abi\u2019s eye. After getting his break on screen from Louis and Albert on Die Boland Moorde<\/em>, Marlo recently won Best Actor: Short Film at the 2022 Silwerskerm Film Festival for Aan\/Af<\/em> and was up for Best Actor at the 2022 Kanna Awards for Die Halwe Huis<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SAFTA winner Ilse Klink plays Patricia, Abi\u2019s mom and Karel\u2019s ex-wife. Karel is played by SAFTA winner Kevin Smith, who also played her husband in the Cape Flats neo noir Skemerdans<\/em>. A psychologist, Patricia is refreshingly supportive of Karel\u2019s upcoming wedding to Nathan (Melt Sieberhagen).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2022 Fleur du Cap winner David Viviers (Tali\u2019s Baby Diary<\/em>, Kanarie<\/em>) plays Justin, a game designer working with Luca on Stefan\u2019s game.\u00a0
2021 SAFTA winner, 2022 Silwerskerm Best Actress: Short Film and 2022 Kanna Awards nominee Carla Smith (Tydelik Terminaal, Skyn<\/em>) plays Lexi, Liam\u2019s assistant chef, who he thinks needs urgent baking lessons from Abi, while rising star Kylie Fisher (Recipes for Love and Murder<\/em>) is Zamanti, an influencer whose wedding Jessica pitches on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Troukoors<\/em> S1 is currently behind only Sex in Afrikaans <\/em>and Devilsdorp <\/em>in terms of first-day views for an Afrikaans title on Showmax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
