With just days to go until the start of the 13th edition of the Durban FilmMart &#8211; a nine member strong Advisory Committee comprising some of key film professionals in the global film industry has been announced to guide the Durban FilmMart Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Advisory Committee consists of African, European and North American film industry experts who bring with them a wealth of experience that will help shape and form the Durban FilmMart Institute in its work to facilitate local and international trade and investment in African film content while generating market access for African film industry professionals and content to international markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are privileged to have been afforded access to a diverse group of industry roleplayers who are committed to taking African content to the global market, thereby ensuring that DFMI remains a key entry point that connects our industry to the world,\u201d says Jacintha de Nobrega, chairperson of the DFMI board of director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn selecting our advisory panel, we purposefully selected esteemed and influential industry leaders that will support the DFMI in increasing its footprint in the global market. Kibinge is also a founding member of the Creative Economy Working Group (CEWG) formed to shape cultural policy in Kenya and in 2021, was named Most Influential Woman in Film at the Women in Film Awards (Kenya). Driven by a desire to bring African and African diaspora cinema to the world, he founded Ten10 Films, an award winning production and distribution company based in London.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Matatu\u2019s films have premiered at major film festivals including Berlin, Toronto, Rotterdam, Busan and London. His producer credits include the multi-award-winning <em>Max &amp; Mona<\/em>; the South African box office hit <em>Material<\/em>; and the action-drama epic, <em>Gangster\u2019s Paradise: Jerusalema,<\/em> which was South Africa\u2019s official entry for the Academy Awards Foreign Language category in 2008. She was instrumental in creating a successful crossover division and continues to flourish in her unique industry position.
