The future of Afrikaans is currently a hot topic of discussion in the media and amongst those who are willing to fight for the preservation of their language and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was also the inspiration behind singer-songwriter, Muller Brandt<\/strong> \u2019s, debut Afrikaans single, MOEDERTAAL<\/strong><\/em> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c Afrikaans is constantly under attack and we cannot sit back and watch while our language is being destroyed. We have to stand up and fight for our mother tongue,\u201d<\/em> the singer explains. \u201cI love Afrikaans and cannot imagine a future where my children and grandchildren don\u2019t know what it is. I use my voice and talent to contribute towards this cause.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Muller, who co-wrote the track with Douvoordag\u2019s Jattie de Beer, it can be describe as a patriotic song that speaks to the heart. \u201cIt is a reminder of how important this cause is and will appeal to a wide audience.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jattie de Beer also directed the music video that was filmed in Hartebeespoortdam by AGP Media. \u201cI wanted to convey the message by having a conversation with the camera. I felt that keeping it simple was the best way to keep the focus on the lyrics,\u201d<\/em> he shares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
