Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment announced that, for the first time, audiences will be able to experience two classic, culture-defining Steven Spielberg films\u2014 E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial<\/a><\/em> and Jaws<\/a><\/em> \u2014on IMAX <\/sup>screens worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both films will be released exclusively on IMAX screens in South Africa from 9 September to celebrate E.T.<\/em>\u2019s 40th<\/sup> Anniversary and Jaws<\/em> 47th<\/sup> Anniversary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUniversal is honored to have been a part of so many extraordinary, unforgettable Steven Spielberg films over the past 47 years, including Jaws<\/em> in 1975, E.T.<\/em> in 1982 and Jurassic Park<\/em> in 1993,\u201d said Jim Orr, president of domestic theatrical distribution for Universal Pictures. \u201cNo filmmaker, it\u2019s fair to say, has had a greater or more enduring impact on American cinema or has created more indelible cinematic memories for tens of billions of people worldwide. We couldn\u2019t think of a more perfect way to celebrate the anniversary of E.T.<\/em> and the first Universal-Spielberg summer blockbuster, Jaws<\/em>, than to allow audiences to experience these films in a way they\u2019ve never been able to before.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Extra-Terrestrial<\/em>, originally released in the summer of 1982, not only soared to become the highest-grossing film of the year, capturing four Academy Awards\u00ae<\/sup> and nine Oscar\u00ae<\/sup> nominations including Best Picture, but it also captured the hearts of audiences around the globe. Four decades later, it still ignites the joy, wonder, discovery, magic and heartbreak of childhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
