Contemporary Dance Experience announced its \u201cpick of the platform\u201d awards of Open Horizons 2022 which was screened on the festival\u2019s YouTube Channel on Thursday 1 September, and remains available for the remainder of the festival until 11 September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"JOMBA! OPEN HORIZONS\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bV-AVis0JlU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">JOMBA!\u2019s Open Horizons platform this year invited digital dance-makers to make submissions for review by our independent jury members. Our call for submissions offered digital dance-makers the capacity to submit short-form work (under 3minutes) and long-form work (between 4 \u2013 8minutes).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The platform encourages submissions from dance-makers across Africa and South Africa and has been a platform for artists, new and established, to create and develop new and original work for participation on JOMBA!\u2019s international stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following jury deliberations around the submissions received for 2022, six dance films were selected for inclusion on our Open Horizons platform, showcasing work from across South Africa and also Includes a work from Kenya, offering a diverse range of dance styles, forms and themes and some really evocative work emerging from young African artists and our storied continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three of the six dance-films were selected for \u201cpick-of-the-platform\u201d awards with Cape Town\u2019s Keisha Solomon and Olivia Ntsuba, collectively billed as \u201cExperience\u201d, taking top honours and a cash prize of R3500,00 for their work \u201cI am\u201d \u2013 an exploration of identity. Tickets for performances at the Sneddon Theatre are R80, and R65 for students, scholars and pensioners through Computicket.
