This will be another important step in Afreximbank\u2019s continued roll-out and implementation of its CANEX programme, a multi-faceted intervention to support and develop Africa\u2019s emerging creatives sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CANEX WKND 2022 will feature creatives, investors, industry leaders, creative industry businesses and government representatives, once again creating business to business and business to government networking and deal-making opportunities, as well as the chance to&nbsp; hear and learn from some of the leading voices from Africa and its diaspora in music, film, fashion, crafts, visual arts, literature, gaming, VR and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Building on the key successes of CANEX at IATF2021 which was held in Durban in November 2021, the upcoming CANEX WKND 2022 in Abidjan will further build bridges across Africa with a strong focus on connecting African creatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among other things, participants will have the opportunity to exhibit fashion, art and crafts in a dynamic marketplace; benefit from meeting services to connect with potential partners; participate in panel discussions and in-depth break away masterclasses; and leverage a range of other networking opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Masterclasses are a major element of CANEX WKND, with intensive breakaway sessions commencing ahead of the official event opening on Friday 25 November, with a range of sessions starting on Thursday 24 November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thursday 24 November: The Intellectual Property Sessions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The emerging IP regime on the continent; implications for creatives scaling across the continent \u2013 United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Session<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Identifying the Intellectual Property &#8211; Assessing and identifying IP bundles in animation, comic, gaming, fashion and music<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Film IP: Legal Compliance &#8211; Chain of title; Types of Contracts in Film &#8211; co-creation, production, rights clearances, distribution etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contribution of contracts to IP securitization with financial institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Facilitated by&nbsp; Liz Lenjo, IP Expert (Kenya)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thursday 24 November: Creative Writing Masterclass<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presented by The Narrative Landscape Press and The James &amp; Grace Adichie Foundation, in partnership with The Society of Book &amp; Magazine Editors, and The Jalada Africa Collective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thursday 24 \u2013 Friday 25 November: <\/strong><strong>The Creative Economy Practice at CcHUB presents the 3rd session of its African Creative Economy Investor MasterClass Series.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This event is open to existing fund managers including Angel Investors and networks, Venture Capital Funds, Syndicate Funds and Members, Private Equity Funds, and Impact Funds. &nbsp;This session is a two-day intensive, in-person workshop that will be held during Afreximbank\u2019s Creative Africa Nexus in Abidjan on the 24 and 25th of November. The workshop fee is Seven Hundred and Fifty United States Dollars ($750) which will cover the cost of the two-day workshop, materials and tea break, and lunches on both days. The fireside chat will be followed by a masterclass helmed by Pathe\u2019O.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Friday 25 November &amp; Sunday 27 November: Festival Management Workshop \u2013presented by The Ladima Foundation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the last two decades, there has been a rapid increase in the number of festivals on offer worldwide, the marketplace for film festivals is now a global one and competition for audiences and funding is greater than ever.&nbsp; The workshop will show festivals how to ensure sustainability by developing and using critical assets such as intellectual, cultural, social, experiential and human capital as unique currencies that can be shared in a collaborative manner that focuses on festivals building strategic collective advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Friday 25 November: The Design Futures Lab &#8211; Exploring the intersection of sustainable fashion and XR; and Masterclass on Augmented Reality<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A first of its kind, the Design Futures Lab, a creative economy project hosted by Electric South, Twyg and Crossover<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Labs in 2022 and supported by the British Council. The British Council will share the results of the Design Futures Lab and dive into the learni ngs with one of the teams,followed by an Augmented Reality workshop facilitated by Kym Fiala &amp; Ntando Ngwenya.
